I wouldn't say this a year ago but Canelo has a decent chance of beating Floyd. Mayweather is not the same guy he was 2-3 years ago and even then his biggest victory is an over the hill DLH.

Canelo would be the best fighter Floyd has fought in the last 5 years.
FLoyd is ripe for the taking.

You caught wind of all the Canelo facebook hoopla? USA Today has picked up on it now and the AP is trying to get ahold of Schaefer. That's a step up from BadLeftHook or LarryBrownSports blogs.

Real men don't facebook and don't twitter.

You'd have to be a big hater not to notice that Canelo has a decent chance at the upset. You really think he would not do better than Cotto, Mosley and Ortiz.

Pacquiao is a ride @ Disneyland compared to Alvarez @154.
Floyd... Fight Guerrerro & defend your WBC belt.

Leave the 154lbs division for the big dogs.
Force Alvarez to take care of the Fish, Lara and the Armenien dude.
    (Don't get involved)

PBF is going to kick Canelo arse on the 4th of May 2013 at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to commemorate the Cinco de Mayo holiday followed by taking out Sergio Martinez in September 2013. Then he can retire as the undefeated and undisputed Middleweight Champion of the world, 45 wins no defeats, no draws or mistakes one of the greatest fighters of all time. Like Floyd said Ali is the greatest he Floyd is the best ever. Picture perfect career. Shame he never faced Vernon Forrest or Ike Quartey but then again you can't have it all. I have said it before and I will say it again Mayweather will never lose to a Mexican or Mexican style fighter. Canelo Alvarez who I have seen close up front is a fine young fighter. He is strong, he is tough and has ability but will lose decisively to Mayweather. He may be better off trying to unify against Trout but if it is PBF then I shall return to Vegas. The Mexicans love boxing and they love Mayweather. There's only one........... Mayweatherrrrrrrrrrrr.........

My gut feeling is that Floyd will decide against being a stepping stone for Canelo and probably look for a safer fight.

I think you're getting ahead of yourself. Canelo announced on His **** that they are close to a deal with Floyd to fight on May 4th. That was then posted in a thread here, and picked up by a couple blogs. Now USA Today. I was asking if you'd heard about it yet.

When have I said anything of the sort? It's a tremendously challenging fight at this stage.

I've heard the rumors but never buy into any of that stuff until it's official.
Hope this fight takes place but i'm doubtful.

Everyone has doubts, I think. I'd figured they'd do one more event with Canelo as the co-feature and let the berry get a little more juicy and ripe, followed possibly by a September fight after Floyd got some ring work tooling around Guerrero. He alledgedly doesn't want to wait. Pacquiao just got brutally KTFO and humiliated -- Mayweather jumping right into a fight with one of the most dangerous guys in his vicinity is a bold ****ing move. Too bold.

Exactly why I'm skeptical. Does that sound like Floyd to you?

Post-DLH, no. I wouldn't want to **** up my stream of $30-45 million paydays either, though. Mosley and Cotto were still good wins -- Nobody was complaining about him fighting Shane Mosley. Most thought he wouldn't take that challenge, period. That's basically irrefutable and we can dig up the articles and threads.

Canelo is the biggest non-Pacquiao pay day out there for him, and it's delivered without the slightest hesitation or problem. If he wants it.

What makes you guys think Canelo is better than Cotto? Because Trout who'd I'd pick to whip Canelos ass beat him? Because Mayweather struggled with DLH another guy is pick to whip Canelos ass?

Lol its a good fight. But I wouldn't be so quick to think Oscar is ready to send his young lion to the Mayweather school of boxing yet.
