You're thinking of Duran. Chavez couldn't best guys with skill; he had to be bigger and stronger so he could wear you down with his wild swings.
An educated pressure fighter. If all it took was a bit of movement to defeat Chavez then he would have lost a lot sooner than he did. The likes of Aguilar, Mayweather, Pratchett etc. all offered movement to no avail. It took a Pernell Whitaker to get the better of Julio, and there's no shame in being bested by Sweet Pea.
He was a brawler but he was more than just that. You can't fight in close at that level for all that time the way he did without taking clean shots back unless you've got something about you.
What's with classic guys acting like guys like Mayweather could fight? Chavez beat bums. Bums! Had he come along ten years later Zab Judah would've schooled him!
Yeah right. If Frankie Randall can easily beat him in his prime what would even Kermit Cintron do to him? Boxing has developed since Chavez's time. JMM would KTFO Chavez If you'd Terry Norris and 'all the way to cruiserweight' I'd be more inclined to support your view.
If Cotto and Matthyse could wreck Zab's **** in the later rounds, then one could imagine the beating he'd take at the hands of JC Superstar. :deal As for the question, I think Lopez would be my choice if the question asked was who had prettier technique. But that wasn't what was asked, and based on what I have seen of Jofre his overall skill-set would have to be considered superior to Finito's.
