Broner has nothing to gain from fighting Abril, but he'll go through him anyway. FW lets his pup off the leash and he'll soundly beat him too.
He obviously wouldn't, but Broner is making moves right now that leaves very little in the way of criticism. It isn't his fault Roberto Duran isn't fighting at 135 today. He's taking what is there.
Absolutely. Broner is a quality fighter and deserves nothing but respect, but I feel we'll find out more about him in the coming years. Stiffer tests to come.
Just out of curiosity, what had you seen from DeMarco in previous fights that suggested to you he would be competitive with Broner? I think it was a perfect style match-up for Broner. DeMarco isn't hard to hit, he isn't particularly fast, but he has shown a big heart in the past that has seen him out-tough and out-last more talented opposition. Specifically Linares. This isn't to say Broner doesn't deserve massive kudos for the manner in which he defeated DeMarco, I just thought the outcome would be obvious to anyone who has seen both fighters before.
That more or less reflects the feelings I had going into this one. I just did not think DeMarco, brave as he is, would be up to the challenge. I still give Broner props, too, however. It was an excellent performance.
And late notice Quintero. Based on those fights Burns gives him the best fight at 135 IMO. Wanna' see Broner help revitalise the one red hot ten stone division. Rios, Garcia, Matthysse, Broner. Lovely.
it's hard to compare, given the opposition. Lopez might very well be more techcally refined, every thing he did had perfect form. Then again, he fought poor competition, while Jofre fought some of the best in the weight's history.
