Wow! I'm surprised how much support Carlos Molina is getting from U.K fans on twitter

The racism card just doesn't wash in boxing - the most revered British fighters are massively verier: Eubank, Benn, Bruno, Lewis, Hatton, and the list goes on. Everyone loved Danny Williams and he's a devout Muslim, the simple fact is British people generally don't like arrogance unless you can back it up (hello Naz).

I think on Saturday Khan will win and then proclaim himself the second coming again, even though he's fighting a fairly average fighter.

 

You might not. But lots of people on here do. He has far more fans on here then Khan - who seemingly has about five fans on here.

Khan has beaten Kotelnik, Malignaggi, Maidana and Judah. He won the WBA & IBF belts. He was quite rightly ranked as the number two fighter in his division at one point. He has achieved far, far more than most British fighters in the past decade.

Like who?

 

All a bunch of decent boxers who are a good step behind the upper-echelon of the lightweight/light-welterweight division. Just like Khan't. Khan't is a decent boxer, but who is a good step behind the upper-echelon yet is hyped up like the British Mayweather.


Like who?

Carl Froch - Proven himself against the best but still gets nowhere near the amount of media attention Khan't does.

Frankie Gavin - Showing much more promise than Khan't did at this stage of his career but again, is getting little media attention.

Kell Brook - Has already surpassed Amir Khan't but is little known beyond boxing fans whereas Amir Khan't is a known face across Britain.

Dave Price - Could become the #1 heavyweight in the world imo yet gets very little media attention.

All 4 of those are much better and much more promising than Amir Khan't. Before Khan even stepped into a professional ring he was hyped up as the second coming, receiving almost as much media attention whilst he was fighting Schmuck's like Action Jackson than Froch was when fighting Abraham.

Come on, you can't deny this kid has been overhyped way beyond his talent. He's a decent boxer, but nothing more and showed early on in his career when he got floored by Limmond and beat by Prescott that he was never going to be anything more then decent.

Ive seen what you've done there....very clever, or it was about 5 years ago when people first started using it, now its just a bit lame and tired.

After 4 years as a pro Khan was fighting Kotelnyk for the WBA lightweight title....Gavin is fighting an 11-1 fighter called Jason Welborn....Good luck Frankie :thumbsup

Its hardly anyones fault that Price has the personality of an MFI self assembly wardrobe and a face made for radio is it? Its completely ******ed to blame Khan for Prices inability to make a media impact. Its his ****ing promoters job to get his profile out there, the clue is sort of in the job title....blame Rumpelstiltskin for that :deal

 

Excellent post my friend. I agree with pretty much every point made.

The other side of the coin are people like me. I openly tell people I support Amir Khan ONLY because he, like me, is P*kistani. When the Olympics came around, I supported the guy just because he was a decent kid with great boxing skills for his age and it was nothing to do with race or religion. And because like in pretty much every other sport, I'll always support the Brit.

Then when he started to get ahead of himself and talk about beating Mayweather etc, I stopped supporting him because I thought he needed to be brought down a peg or two and also because I generally like humble people (probably not the best sport to be a fan of then). Anyway, after Prescott his attitude seemed to change but I was also shocked with the amount of racist vitriol aimed towards him and I started supporting him again unconditionally because I realised for many racist non-p*kistanis he was representing my race/ethnicity and more importantly, him winning would lead to a lot of racist ****s punching walls in frustration.

 

The political leaders in the West actually tend to be apologists for Islam and whitewash its sins. e.g. George W Bush described Islam as a "religion of peace". (Which is a million miles away from the truth.)

If British political leaders are very critical of Islam then I must have missed that!

And of course, there is nothing wrong with being "anti Islam". There is nothing "racist" about being "anti Islam" because Islam isn't a race it's an ideology. And as it happens, traditional Islam is a very twisted evil ideology.

I don't think racism is the reason Khan is hated. Ok, yeah, a minority will dislike him because of that, but that minority will just be a small collection of idiots.

I think the main reason he's disliked is because he is a complete and utter PR disaster. His team is unprofessional and he's surrounded by idiots which doesn't help either. It's a shame because in one interview he'll come across as a really nice, respectable young man, but then he'll literally walk around the corner to do an interview for another website and come across as a thick, arrogant little ****. I've never seen someone who can shift personality like that in a public domain, it really is shocking and - unfortunately for him - it's human nature to take the negatives rather than the positives, so he gets remembered for the poor interview.

Also, he really is thick as ****.

 

I don't hate Barrera because he slammed Nazs face into the turnbuckle and is an arrogant cockend, thats just my cover story.
