I watched the Hearns-Iran Barkley replays last nite on "Vs" channel.

I was impressed with Barkley. He knocked Hearns down 3 times in 2 fights. I don't think Hearns ever even hurt him (Nigel Benn was the
only one to really blast him out when Iran was in his prime).

Barkley just came forward, trapped Tommy on the ropes and worked him over. Tommy couldn't even use his great boxing skills.

Barkley has a very quick and powerful left hook.

I believe the Sugar Ray who fought Donnie LaLonde, would have serious
problems with Barkley, and might even get knocked out.

Not a fair matchup. Barkley was too big and strong for Leonard, who was never more than a natural welterweight - light middle at best.

Only a lucky bolt from the blue - which Leonard was capable of - could've rescued him in this match.

I agree that this is not a fair match-up. Neither was Barkley-Duran, but they forgot to tell Roberto.

its hard to say, leonard so much older and very small for super middle weight. i think barkley would corner leonard and stop him, barkley not better, bust still to big and too strong for a great fighter very past his best a(even though he could still do great things)

ps: i wish barkley fought benn again becuase it was very back and forth fight with barkely getting hit when he went down.

Great avatar. I always thought Jackson had a very intimidating physique. We all know it generated frightening power.

Leonard's innate class and ability too much. His durability, defence, lateral movement and survival instinct make Barkley a very winnable fight. Ray was a bit more durable than Tommy and had better defence and lateral movement.

i think hearns made a good account of himself that night in the rematch. he used some amazing combo's and did somthing that was rare in his fight plans and that is to fight on the inside

and about how james toney totally dominated the fight i agree but ray would never fight like toney. he would jab stay on the outside when he comes close let off a 4 hit combo and then stalk him...toney when getting out muscled went to war and was on the inside just slipping and throwing...time to show some repolays

Barkely would club the over-his-head Leonard into 11th round submission.

Iran would pound leonard into the canvas & the only evidence that SRL had been in the ring would be a black & red smudge where he got laid out:yep

I think Hearns hurt him at the end of round one in the rematch and the end of round 10 and 11. The body punches to Barkley hurt him more than the head punches. I do think Barkley might beat Leonard. Leonard would have fought him had he thought he could beat him. Barkley was big and strong and gave anyone trouble. I think Ray might have his hands full with Barkley.

as for Hearns hurting Barkley. The punch at the end of round one was a right hand and Barkley's legs wobbled a little, and the punch later Hearns landed a left hook to the body and then a left hook to the head . A nice combination which I am not sure why he didn't throw that more. I always thought if Hearns/Barkley were scheduled for 15 rounds Hearns would have won on a TKO. By the way, when Hearns hurt Barkley in the late rounds in the rematch, Barkley smiled I remember. That is when I knew he was hurt.
