I have never been a fan of the Prince but I have always respected him. He had great athleticism, knock out power in BOTH hands & an enormous heart. I'm 26 now, but when I was in secondary school I remember the energy he used to bring to his fights they were EVENTS...This man truly BRANDED HIMSELF...act like royalty & you shall be treated like it....and thats what the Prince did....

In fairness when he retired at 28 there was much speculation on why...some say he lost the spark after his first defeat (like Hatton) some say he loss his hunger due to all his enormous success (like Pacquiao); I even heard him once say in an interview that he wanted to spend more time with his family. Then in another interview say he had persisting hand problems.

In any case at his peak he wanted to fight the best, afterall he had all the TALENT in the world....but the day he fought one of the best fighters of his generation WHO WAS ELITE AT THE TIME, that had heart & great boxing fundementals he lost...which is fine by me,great fighters lose, elite fighters lose...but HE DID NOT TAKE UP HIS REMATCH CLAUSE and fight the guy who took his titles...this is why I will never class him as an ELITE FIGHTER....because the FIRST & ONLY ELITE fighter Naseem fought he lost to.BUT more importantly he NEVER tried to fight him again nor any other ELITE FIGHTERS & Naseem was the money man of the division, HBO contract & numerous sponsers....anyway I wish him all the best...my 2 cents

He got me into boxing back in the day. My favourite of all time.

He was a great showman, and a very decent boxer.

But he lacked the application and dedication to the sport required to be an elite fighter. With or without Ingle he would never have been able to remain at the top once he got there.

He dominated, then got dominated by MAB. Was bound to happen, as MAB was no mug who actually did commit himself to the sport.

Also, he should have gone for the Morales fight, he would have most probably lost, but he would of engaged Nas and it would of been a much more entertaining fight.

Yeah, his end achievements -- which were still bloody good! -- never matched the abilities he was gifted with. Could have should have been so much more.

The Prince was an elite fighter and would've had a storied career had he continued.

He won the IBF, WBO, WBC titles and beat the WBA champ although for whatever reason that belt wasn't on the line, not many non Elite unify the division.

He was a level below Pacquaio, Morales, Marquez, and Barrera most consinder those fighters ATGs though.

Oh, by the way, it's worth mentioning he was regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound operators during his peak years. So without a shadow of a doubt, he was elite for his time.

Naseem Hamed with Pacquaio's dedication and discipline would have been an ATG.

    Definition of natural talent.

Talent no doubt, but only elite fighter he faced beat him clearly and totally figured him out, one more thing terrible about him is that he quit when he lost.

Naz was never really a worker

He thrived from his natural ability ... huge power and a great chin

Combine that with excessive showmanship and you get the Prince

Boxing really has declined ever since the departure of Iron Mike, the Prince, and the decline of RJJ

Now we have ***gots like Mayweather who fights once a year running the show
