So final thoughts on the card for the night: Santa Cruz: Got caught up early but controlled down the stretch. Guevera: Damn good showing for a no name who's best fight prior was against Raul Hildalgo(17-6), he'll probably not go too far but he could be a Pablo Cesar Cano type and be a gate keeper level guy. Angulo: Looked like a bum. Fought like ****. Got the win. Would get murdered by the top 10 at 154. Silva: Damn good showing for a no-name kid. Showed a lot of power and grit. Hope to see him in some other under cards. Porter: The less I say about him the better. Flash but no substance. Diaz: His best days are behind him. Wilder: Another KO win. Awkward opponent, so I'm not going to give him too much **** for taking his time in there and waiting for the shot to come. Do want to see him step up: Hopefully in the coming year he'll fight Chazz Witherspoon, Fres Oquendo, Dominick Guinn, Nagy Aguleria. I'm not worried yet but he should be trying to match Wlad's progression. Want to see him put on more weight though, He should be around 240-250. He's taller than Wlad and Lennox so he could carry the weight with a good strength coach like the one Bernard Hopkins used to move up. He also should stay in Wlad's camp. Price: Yeah... Molina: No shame here. Khan: Get the **** out of here thinking you're on the elite's level with that bull****. Mayweather would murder your ass, as would Marquez, as would Bradley, as would Alexander, as would Matthysse or anyone else that can bang or at least bang better than a feather fisted guy who Adrien Broner would get **** for fighting. Overall though, better than expected Card. A lot of good fights where there should have been white washes.
Agreed again, but i think people aren't giving Khan the credit he deserves. People are ignoring the clear improvements he showed in there, as gradual as they were. You can't expect massive improvements after just one training camp.
No matter what, Khan is one of the best JWW's out there. He is relevant. He has a great fanbase worlwide, and is the most marketable fighter in his division. If he can gain some slickness, he'll be the best at the weight.
I see your point. I think what people want is to see those improvements vs. Garcia or Peterson. If he could get a 10th round stoppage of Garcia, no one would complain. But people know he will probably revert back to his style of risky fighting.
But I agree this fight is great for him. I wish he had another tuneup like this to get more confidence and work on his defense and experience.
The Garcia/Peterson rematch will come, Khan will be back into world title contention after 2 fights at the most.
tough fights for him. If he beats Garcia he could bypass Peterson and fight different names. Don't you think?
Completely agree, I think that Khan should fight a guy in the top 10 next, one that isn't too much of a threat, to get him sharp and ready for a Garcia/Peterson rematch.
:deal He needs these types of fights to get acclimated to a new style of fighting, and a new trainer. You can't just do everthing overnight.
Pretty much, although if he does beat Garcia (and that's a big if), I think he should give Peterson a rematch, out of principle. Just to right that wrong.
I think Khan's body type would really resonate to a strong body attack. I hope Hunter can instill that in him.
