The kid looks like a great prospect at the moment.

He will be a world champ in 2013, as long as Gold Boy/Top Rank feud doesn't get in the way.

I'm guessing he will get a shot at Ponce Deleon's belt sometime next year(or whomever holds that belt if Ponce loses it).

Or maybe Billy Dib's belt. But surely Ponce's wbc belt is preferable, ultimately.

I'd say he's a better version of Berto, short fast compact boxer-puncher who always loads up on his stuff. Broner in comparison is looser and more relaxed in therebut Russell packs a punch in both hands and shows high level of defense, a future titleholder surely.

The sky is the limit for this kid. His speed, power and explosive combinations make him dangerous. He has some defensive holes that need a little work but the kid has everything necessary to be a world champion if he keeper a good head on his shoulders and keeps progressing. Hrs still a diamond in the rough at this point but once polished can be a major problem for anyone in his weight class.

Honestly, I feel he has all the tools to be a P4P number 1 fighter.

Gary Russell Jnr is the only serious contender to David Lemieux’s Crown as most T-Rex’d boxer that has a fanbase.

This will surely catch up with him if he comes up against someone like Donaire or Salido.

    T-Rex’s exist in Boxing.

Reach is a vital component in Boxing, almost as important as punch resistance.

I dare any of these top prospects or champions at jr featherweight or featherweight call out newly crowned wba featherweight champion from jamaica Nicholas 'The Axeman' Walters. If russell wants a title shot and get that chin checked then step up.

Walter's is a step up for Gary and I don't think he has enough experience to jump up and challenge a guy like Walter's. Gary is being brought along like Andre Ward.....slow, steady and progressive. I think Jr's handlers and doing the right thing in not making the mistake of giving the kid too much too soon. By the time Gary is ready for a guy like Walter's Gary will be a polished and a more complete fighter. Russell is from my hometown. He has a lot to live up to coming out of DC. A lot of expectations but he will make us proud.

    WBA KO DRUGS

The Jamaican Nicholas Walters became the new featherweight champion of the World Boxing Association, after knocking out the Colombian Daulis Prescott in the seventh round in fight held in Kingston at the KO drugs.

Walters and Prescott engaged in a very close fight since the first round, however, the local began to punish down to make him feel his punches.

Prescott got the first count in the fourth round, and then in the sixth, both from punishment in the middle zone. In the following round, the Colombian did not resist more punishment and at 35 seconds of the seventh round Rafael Ramos stopped the fight.

He has the potential to be one of the best, if not the best of his era.

Gary Russell JR fought plenty of big fights in the amateurs.. so when he ready for that big fight.. he should make the adjustment good.. just like Andre Ward did

He may not have the greatest reach, but he has a ton of other positive qualities about him. I'd say more than just about anyone else.
