No, but I believe he was an old ex fighter, I think Tommy may have had a stall in east street market. Saw Billy at a funeral a couple of months ago. Looks well.
Johnny Clark used to have a boozer down there, The Good Intent! Funny enough the last time I saw Billy was at me dad's funeral a couple of years ago.
I second that. I'm reading this on my dinner at work, absolutely enthralling stuff gentlemen. Thanks to all!
Yes, great read this thread was. I posted a short fight report of the first Kevin-Marv fight for my fellow Evertonian Nemesis a few years back, which proves how close the contest was at the time of the stoppage, here it is again: This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
What a good posting for us boxing fans! Thanks much for it and the insites only someone there can give. Alas the Finnegan and Quarry brothers left us far too soon friends.
Quality bump and i re-read the whole thread. Man i used to love having MDWC around! The man was quality company in here.
Yeah I did too John, he used to be a mine of knowledge and was a funny, no bollocks talked kind of bloke. Him and Al went a long way in me nearly changing my opinion of Scousers being Dingles and that's saying a lot because I'm a Man Utd fan.
I've heard so much about the Hagler vs Finnegan fights I wish they were available. From what I heard Finnegan may of been ahead on points in their 1st meeting, having come on strong in 2nd half of the fight until the cut. The 2nd fight Hagler won more decisively, but I don't think they allowed Finnegan's cut to properly heal. Overall the Finnegan brothers were awesome fighters, both did very well against ATGs in Marvin Hagler & Bob Foster.
So pleased to have found this thread. The Finnegan brothers are two of my favourite fighters, these stories are great. Thanks to everyone who contributed
