i was watching the tuf16 finale, and they were talking about the ufc158 card and it show GSP vs Diaz, Rory vs Condit, and the third fight was Hendricks vs. Ellenberger.

i thought hendricks should be fighting where Diaz is, but oh well. Another KO for Hendricks. should be a fun fight tho.

    Waht do yall think?

Possibly the two heaviest handed guys at WW. A fight I have very much wanted to see for a long time.

Ellenberger is no pushover. Hendrix is only one KO away from being Sokujdu. If he comes through he definitely needs to be given the next title shot. The guy honestly deserves it already - but the Diaz/GSP grudge match is taking precedence.

I don't like how the Diaz fight was made, but at the same time GSP usually takes whoever the UFC puts in front of him. I like the Diaz fight while he is still high on the radar because with him who knows what next week will bring, Just getting him to the ring will be the real fight. As for Hendricks he is obviously deserving of a shot but another impressive win will only gain him more attention should he beat Ellenberger.

Thing is Ellenberger was soundly beaten by Kampmann. Didn't look great against Hieron and now gets a chance to piggyback off Hendrick's success if he explodes first and catches him.

I guess what I'm saying is that Hendricks has way more to lose than to gain here, although he'll get a chance to solidify his MMA wrestling powerhouse credentials by taking on another fighter of the same ilk.

Nick has been out a while so any chance of being sharp and giving GSP a good fight will go out the window. What I will say is, Joe Silva should tell Hendricks to prepare himself for GSP, just in case.

Let's not forget that Ellenberger was a different ref away from finishing Kampmann in the first, as well. He blew his load and paid for it in the second. Seems that he has taken that to heart, and fought almost too cautiously against James Hieronymus.

Had the ref stopped that fight, which would have been justified, he would have had a run very similar to Hendricks' current run. A lot of what ifs, but it makes this match a bit more understandable and reasonable to me.

Of course but I felt he capitulated too easily. He can only steamroll/blow his load or fight at a more leisurely pace.

I hope it's a shootout. I really do. One thing is for sure, if it doesn't develop into a clinch fest it's sure to be a fun one.

It makes me think that Dana doesn't want Hendricks to be the WW Champ, and is hoping that Ellenberger can pull off a KO upset, and drop Hendricks right down in the pecking order again.

It's absurd to think that Ellenberger is an easy fight for anyone at WW.

Has everyone forgotten about Hendricks' fights with Kos, Pierce, and Story? TJ Grant? In Hendricks, we don't have a guy that has just run through everybody without any issues. He has struggled plenty along the way, and he has not looked invincible.

They are both strong wrestlers, and they both has immense power. However, Ellenberger is faster, and has a far more varied attack on the feet.

You ignored the rest. Fitch and Kampmann aren't easy fights for anybody, that's why they are considered good wins.

rob im not saying this isn't gonna be a good win for johny but you seem to also ignore the fact that ellenberger is coming of a loss to kampmann a man that hendricks disposed of in 46 seconds
