Did prime SMW Jones Jnr, ever fight a young big punching SMW as good as G Groves?

Glass jaw Calzaghe was dropped by B-hop, who hasn't dropped anybody in 10 years.
No show Joe didn't have the power to even drop old Roy Jones who was being knocked out left right and centre, instead he got dropped by Roy. Hahahaha

Good point dino, Joe's lack of power is testament to his skills. His glass jaw tells us he had great defence, never stopped once in 46 fights, not many glass jaw fighters can get through a career unscathed but Joe did

He was clocked pretty good by James Toney in round 5 i think it was... Toney had plenty of power and was an extremely good counter puncher, which is some of the worst to get hit with...

To answer the question yes, Jones has fought a better puncher.

    Bailey,

Why do you find it necessary to point out Jones got a silver medal in the Olympics? We all know what happened in that fight.. Makes me believe you are just trolling.

Was that a left hook? I remember that punch. With Jones' style and ability, he never needed an iron chin, but when he was younger he could take a punch and recover from it, and with Jones' defence one punch was probably all you could land on him!

Yeah i think it was a left hook... It caught Jones when he wasn't expecting it and it snapped his head pretty good. You can tell he was probably hurt a little, but he came back with a blinding combo of his own.

I think his chin got worse as he got older, I don't think it was always as bad as it has been since losing to Tarver.

I think the Tarver punch would have knocked him out at any point. But he has taken harder punches from Ruiz, Griffin, Tarver and Toney that were harder than some of the shots he has since been knocked out by... Never an iron chin, like you said, but decent enough for his style.

Punch resistance is a funny thing, once its gone, it is gone. Crazy what one big shot can do to you, especially in your mid 30's... Too big a setback for Roy at that point in his career.

Sensational performance from George Groves last night, he was superior in every single department and peppered Johnson all night long with crisp lightning punches.

Got to give Johnson huge credit, his chin was frightenning, the ref should have pulled him outta their but he showed great courage to see the final bell.

Anyone who thinks that Roy Jones could have withstood the punishment that Groves dished out last night is living in cloud cuckoo land.

The saint George Groves is the business, within 3 years he will be the undisputed 168 champion of the world with degale being the only fighter with the potential to dethrown him.

Yes, I could see Groves and DeGale in a unification rematch, Benn/Eubank style.
The two top SMWs going at it all over again

Groves just handled G Johnson, winning very clearly, taking his shots no problem.
Groves looked the puncher of the two. the more skilled of the two.
G Johnson beat Jones, was ahead against him and KOd Jones

Guess that answers the question that Jones would probably not have been able to take a flush shot from the Saint, but this posed another thought, that the Saint would have been ahead on points before a stunning KO.

Wouldnt be shocked now if the result would have been Groves win KO 5

I think Groves being ahead is what troubles many of the fanboys, before a stunning KO

^ Did Prime Roy fight like 44 year old Glen Johnson? Does that performance mean he will clear out the division? Are you a Barney with fluff for brains?
Get out of here dum dum.

this is one of the worst threads ever. yes, groves is on his way. he beat a retired fighter who has lost 3 of his last 4 coming in. this is usually how the euros like to face their opponents, old and on losing streaks.
