Was Roy a prime SMW when he fought Glen Johnson?:patsch

Is Glen still the same fighter as when he knocked out Roy?

    you make absolutely no sense.

in all fairness to groves, he's improved a little since i saw him vs degale but he's a very limited fighter. prime roy at 168 would have taken him out in 1 or 2. even prime calzaghe finishes groves before the middle rounds.

Soon there will be nowhere left to run for Andre Ward, Groves will have him cornered at 168 and Clev will have him cornered at 175.

I think theres a strong chance Ward will go down to middleweight in the near future where he can continue to fool the gullable public.

That may happen. Ward was running from Bute and the excuses were running short, saying he may go up to LHW, now he doesnt have Bute breathing down his neck so bad, hes stayed at SMW to fight no hope Pavlik, but with Groves on the up at SMW and Cleverly at LHW, things are looking like Ward may have to go against his grain and fight a top undefeated fighter. He wouldnt agree to that before in Oakland, so you just cant see him doing it at all.
Yes MW may be his next move and he has fought there before.
Dont be shocked to see a catch weight fight coming up :dead

Ward has more tools in his toolbox than Groves. Different level. As a Ward fan , i have nothing to worry about. I hope that fight comes together.

    To answer the original question..

Yes, Toney is a much better fighter than Groves.. Had one punch knockout power, arguably the best counter puncher of the generation, and Roy handled him with ease.

Joe ducked Pavlik after he bounced his stable mate around the ring. The list of boxers Joe ducked is endless. Ward didn't even duck Bute.

At this moment Groves is a bit green and Ward would look to take that now, as it would be his best chance, but a few months to a year down the line and its all Groves.
I think Ward would be worried to face, Groves, DeGale, Cleverly, to the point of the fights never happening

Yeah you're right Groves and Clev are much better than Froch, Kessler and Abraham....

I like Groves. Took the hard way to this point in his career sparred the best and has fought really good competition to this point in his career.

In a way it reminds me of the cowardly route taken by Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins feasted in the weakest middleweight era of all time and not even the promise of career high payday was enough for him to man up and bring calzaghe to america in 2002 and fight the daddy at 168. Instead Hopkins chose to jump ship and feast on by far the most overated 175 division in history.

Can't help but feel that the reason Bernard did that was because he saw that Glen Johnson himself had reasonable success at both 160 and 175, but when he tried his luck in a stacked 168 division Johnson got smashed around like a punch bag continually.
