Any chance they got last night "now that that he s with Virgil hunter he won't be rushing in" "Virgil hunter will make sure his chin is tucked in" "Virgil hunter will be such a calming influence", never heard as much bull**** in my life, do these idiots forget the privileged position khan was in with roach and the wild card, it's not roaches fault khan can't follow basic instructions. If Molina could hit hard harder last night would have been another disaster. Khan is still an accident waiting to happen.
Didn't watch the Sky coverage however I thought Khan's reflections on Roachs guidance, on Beyond the Ropes, were disrespectful and contradictory given his gushing circa post-Maidana.
Completly agree. Garcia KO's him with another left hook in an exchange. Khan's comments after the fight were ridiculous IMO: "If that was Danny Garcia in there he would have gotten Knocked-Out." If he can't even hurt or wobble a Lightweight, I don't see how he can KO Garcia. He doesn't seem to have learnt his lesson either, if he and Garcia rematch, I can see Khan getting drawn into an arguement with Angel Garcia.
Adam Smith was a disgrace to boxing as usual last night, what an utter **** he is, as head of boxing at Sky you'd think he'd be knowledgeable, clearly not.
I think the problem with Khan is, he'd been having rough spars where he was taking shots and he began to believe he had an iron chin and he wanted to prove it so he started boxing like an idiot. He also stopped training as hard as well imo. Another thing we have to remember is that people, especially most the idots on here, were writing Garcia off as a light hitter before he fought Khan and after Khan took Peterson's shots (who really is a light hitter) he began to feel too comfortable after a few rounds against Garcia.
Hunter won't change Khan as much as people are hoping. I don't think he's that good of a trainer, in all honesty. The success of Ward is one thing but it doesn't indicate that Hunter is a good trainer for other fighters. Look at what he's done to Angulo for example. Khan would have been better working with Roach, I think, or maybe someone like Garcia, Shields or even Beristain. They are all better trainers than Hunter.
That's just utter nonsense. Not good of a trainer? Based on what? Have you been with him to see what he's like? Look at what he's done with Angulo? Did you expect Hunter to pour some miracle **** on Angulo and turn him into the second coming of Floyd Mayweather? Pure ignorance right there.
Laz I'm going to ask you a serious question, would Khan of done better against Molina with Roach in his corner or did Virgil make that much of a difference? Personally, I think Khan under Roach would have stopped him a lot earlier?
Would have been more or less the same. You think he would have stopped him earlier if he was with him? I'm not sure that's the point of him changing trainers though. He may well have done that, because he would have been more offensive minded under Freddie, and with Molina, it would have been fine to take them risks because he wasn't doing much at all, but that doesn't achieve anything now, does it.
You mention Garcia but you could use Brandon Rios to make the same point, and say he would be horrendous for Khan.
You make a fair point, Amir tried new things and there was a difference in him, but what Hunter is trying to do is rebuild a fighters DNA, it's like Floyd Mayweather Sr trying to rebuild Hatton, you can tweak as much as you like but these are deep rooted characteristics and flaws.
Amir Khan is more of a responsive fighter than Ricky Hatton. I think all Hunter needs to do, is teach Amir Khan how to shoulder roll and ****, that's all he can really do. Amir Khan is a instinctive offensive fighter, and i think he should stay this way. Just needs to improve his defence, and use more astute movement. These skills will do him good, when he gets tagged in his the future! Instead of going ape****, and going to war.
I actually thought for a minute on Thursday night that Sky were trying to make Amir look bad a la David Brent. They showed him not being able to get his skipping together then he sounded a bit silly when he started discussing being a classy, thinking fighter then seemed to contradict himself about being aggressive.
