IMO, Lampley's emotional reaction last week had more to do with the scope of the event itself and not so much that he was sad that Pac was koed. It was a big night for boxing and the sport delivered. That in itself seems to be enough to invoke a choke up out of an emotional fella like Lamps. Secondly, during the fight, he was countering Roy's commentary that was favoring Pacquiao by illustrating Marquez' punch opportunities and chances of scoring knock downs. Lamps also has been an avid supporter of JMM over the years so I'm just not buying the impartiality accusations here.
I have always said and will always say it. **** JIM LAMPLEY. You biased, dick sucking, piece of **** ******.
Jim is passionate and sometimes entertaining to listen to, but then your perception of the fight is suspect to his extreme bias. The reality is, generally all boxing commentators, that do not have any background as trainers, let alone as fighters, are in fact bitches. Many will disagree, but I'll go as far to say that the greatest commentator of all time, Howard Cosell, was a *****.
HBO is not going to be that good anymore. Not that I loved Merchant, but Lampley has never been that great. I wish they had Al Bernstein, Roy Jones and maybe a Dave Bontempo type commentator. Kellerman is not good.
"Bang! Bang! Bang! Want some more?!? Bang!!!!!" Has Josh Clottey recovered from that brutal beating yet? No wonder we don't hear about him anymore.
