What do you think the result would be with Andre Ward vs The following at SMW? Joe Calzaghe James Toney Roy Jones Jnr Chris Eubank Nigel Benn Michael Watson Steve Collins Mike McCallum Iran Barkley Michael Nunn Chong-Pal Park Murray Sutherland I only added Park and Sutherland as they were the first 2 SMW champions.
Out of them all and in thier prime, I would go for Benn he was savage and I have seen both Benn Eubank fights live. Andre Ward is a very skilled SMW and I ( even as a Brit ) hope he reigns for quite some time before moving up in weight, if there is any money fight up there for him..
He loses to 11 of them and maybe all of them. He loses to Joe Calzaghe prime James Toney prime Roy Jones Jr prime Chris Eubank prime Nigel Benn prime Michael Watson prime Steve Collins prime Mike McCallum prime Iran Barkley prime Michael Nunn prime Chong - Pal Park prime Murray Sutherland prime is a toss up
Joe Calzaghe: Calzaghe SD James Toney: Toney UD Roy Jones Jnr: Jones TKO 10 Chris Eubank: Ward UD Nigel Benn: Ward UD Michael Watson: Ward UD Steve Collins: Ward UD Mike McCallum: Ward UD Iran Barkley: Ward UD Michael Nunn: Ward UD Chong-Pal Park: Ward KO 9 Murray Sutherland: Ward UD
This, although I think he SD's Calzaghe and possibly loses to the very best versions of Nunn and McCallum.
You're overrating Andre Ward drastically. Most of them have a fairly decent chance in knocking out Ward. Andre Ward would be tailor made for Nigel Benn.
Yeah these fans now at days.See a solid undefeated fighter like floyd, ward, broner & think he's unbeatable.I've seen ward get shook & hurt by lesser names i'm sure rugged guys from the past would hang with him & then some.He takes a couple if not handful of losses to those guys.Today vs that era no comparison.
Froch would stop Benn late in a war and Kessler would jab his head off. Benn was by and large a crude slugger that could occasionally box decently to a gameplan. You need more dimensions than that to beat Ward at his best.
Loses to Jones without question. Could potentially lose to a few others (Toney who I'd favor, Calzaghe who I think would drop a close one to Ward, etc), but he'd have a reasonably solid chance at any of them aside from Roy. Some he'd flat-out beat widely like Barkley. McCallum was a better fighter than Ward at his prime, but I don't know if I'd fancy his chances that much at 168. Nunn, for all his physical talents, gets outhustled and outdone over 12. Watson would be a nice tactical match and somebody like Benn and McClellan would have puncher's chances.
He beats Chris Eubank? And Nigel Benn? I dunno about that one. I think Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank fought superior competition for a long time and did the business. I think Andre Ward is being vastly overrated if you compare the competition from now against the competition Eubank and Benn were fighting against. He's a good fighter but he is being overrated now.
