Why do people say Mayweathers win of JMM doesnt count?

Nobodys asking floyd to move up any divsion,were have you been the last couple years??Sergio has clearly stated numerous times he'll fight 2time Jr middleweight champ floyd at 154lb.Floyd himself has said he's grown into his body thus why he didn't make an extra sacrifice to cut down 2lbs vs Marquez he was too big.Floyd just sign that dotted line or he will be remebered forever for not fight 2 top 4 p4p fighters of his era.Pac-Sergio simple as that.Don't brag about being the best if you're not willing to fight them & back it up.Floyds safe options hyped bradley,Guerrero,canelo yawn...:zzz

 

It doesn't count because Marquez was too young when they fought and had yet to develop his hurting bombs.

 

Have to side with the OP here. Mayweather didn't win because he was heavier but because he was faster and more skilled. He would beat JMM at any weight.

Yeah, his analogy would stand if Marquez had captured his 2nd 140 belt and Ring #1 rating, then Floyd offered to drop down to 140 for him. As it is, he wouldn't even drop down to the contracted CW of 144.

 

Probably not. JMM would have a solid chance at 140, and knocks out a mummy in Floyd at 135 right now.

 

Didn't Marquez call out Floyd and say he would go up in weight to fight him? And part of that decision is probably because of the fact Floyd was retired for so long. That being the case, Mayweather should get full credit. However, coming over the weight limit diminishes it just a little bit.

What doesn't count/matter is saying the weight made a difference. As said Mayweather beat him with skill not size and is just the better fighter/talent. Props to Marquez for even fighting him

Oh and demanding Floyd to face Martinez is like demanding Martinez to face Ward. You can't have it both ways no matter how much you may dislike Floyd or his selection of opponents. Still believe he saw something he feared in Pacquiao as well as ducking P-Will but that's a long ass discussion for the "Whine about Mayweather" thread.

 

Why would a 147 pound fighter have to prove himself by fighting a pound for pound MW fighter (2 Divisions up).

Gamboa called out Pac and Floyd, doesn't mean they should get much credit. DLH also called out Pac, and yet the midget doesn't get much credit after the fact, despite the odds.

 

The same reason a 135 pounder moved up two weight classes beyond his limit to fight arguably the #1pfp.Greatness

 

Aiken,Martinez moved up one weight class and look at what he's accomplished in that time span.He fought a lhw Chavez u seen what he did to him.
