The 42 year old James Toney weighed in 20 pounds heavier than he'd ever fought at in his 22 year career, and as you'll see in the video, had his gut hanging down almost to his knees.

The only reason Reed managed to go the distance was because the obesely out of condition Toney could barely move and Reed stayed well away from him.

In any case Reed didn't win a single round on any of the judges scorecards, and achieved only survival against a fat opponent who couldn't move well enough to catch him.

de Mori's matchmaker tried to justify the completely shot and 42 year old Rob Calloway on the basis he went the distance with Chauncy Welliver. Truth is Welliver doesn't knock people out - 30% KO ratio. Calloway didn't win a single round off him, and Welliver demonstrated not long after that he's gone.

Not hard to see why the matchmaker has stopped posting.

 

Reed is 41 years old and retired because he'd run his race and knew it. As did anyone else who saw his later fights.

It was poor form when team de Mori tried to coax Reed out of retirement 13 months ago. Now, a year later, it's just plain disgraceful atsch

This fight deserves nothing better than to be the same kind of financial disaster as St Marys.

Not sure if you noticed but this is not a Disney production, boxing is serious stuff where people can and have suffered irreparable damage. Mark shouldn't be taking these fights. His management need to sort themselves out and get Mark the fights he really needs. Mark has been reprimanded once already for staging nothing more than sparring session as legitimate pro fight. It would be difficult to see Mark do nothing more than win this fight once again on body shots as a deliberate strategy to limit the damage metered out and give the opponent ample time to take a knee. Not good for the sport mate. As you have already pointed out Mark can only fight was is put in front of him so the question and consequences lay with his management.
