Right now I'd say Showtime. HBO are becoming so pathetic.

I love Bernstein.. i like paulie. Used to like Tarver too.

I really hate Lampley with a passion. and can't stand that bold MMA guy they have at showtime.

Kellerman is ok. I'm neutral about RJJ..

So that makes Showtime much better then HBO for me.

Showtime. Bernstein is the best commentator out there, Paulie is a good commentator, and all around their commentating seems to be better than HBO.

When Emanuel Steward was alive, he was really the only big asset to the commentating. I loved Larry Merchant when he was with HBO simply because he'd get drunk and start to ramble about one thing or another while simultaniously coming with very creative wordings.

I can't stand Jim Lampley and his blatant cheer leading and just all around poor calls. Just recently Jim Lampley made a lot out of nothing again...

Lampley- "AND HIS MOUTHPIECE WENT FLYING OUT!!!"

    RJJ- "No it didn't."

Lampley- "Oh...it was just some vaseline."

He also routinely will say a punch landed when it didn't, and sometimes he'll call punches that weren't even thrown.

Kellerman is ok with me, I kinda like him. I don't understand the huge amounts of hate he gets.

Roy Jones Jr isn't bad, he's definitely a good asset for HBO to have.

Fight for fight, Showtime tends to have better commentating.

Showtime and its not even close.

While RJJ is alright, the rest of the HBO crew are a bunch of dick sucking nuthugging ***s. **** 'em.

Well, you normally have three guys...
    • The passionate one
    • The analytical one
    • The former fighter/trainer
HBO have got the void of the passionate one filled in perfectly. Lampley, despite what a lot of people say, injects a lot of passion and excitement into the coverage. But Showtime are superior in the other two, especially since the introduction of Paulie - who is second to none out of former fighters. He's 10x better than anyone I've heard; including Lennox, Roy, Tarver, etc. And Al "Oh wow" Bernstein, as we all know, is a straight up G.

So, all in all, Showtime >>> HBO.

TBH, right now HBO's team of Lampley/RJJ/Kellerman > Bernstein/Paulie/Mauro Ranallo.

People may not have noticed, but Bernstein has been very mediocre over the past year and he was especially bad for Cotto/Trout. (To his credit, he spoke alot of truth during the Mares/Moreno fight though).

Showtime, IMO, really misses Tarver and Gus Johnson.

I actually LOVE the energy thats on Showtime. In particular I think the guy who came from MMA announcing is a great addition. He is a skillful announcer and with time his boxing knowledge will increase and it will match his professional skills as an announcer.

HBO over Showtime only because of that very annoying MMA announcer.

    He makes Lederman sound mellifluous.

No one is more 'passionate' than Gus Johnson.

IMO, Paulie has become a little overrated. His stories are great and he is witty, but his 'analysis' and scorecard during the Cotto/Trout fight was coming from so far out of left field that its hard to ignore. Trout would pepper Cotto with a 3-4 punch combo and Paulie would skip right to a (at best) grazing left hook Cotto threw as if he was Joe Frazier.

So you're saying you like loud mouth, over the top announcers calling fights. Mauro Ranallo annoys the **** out of me. He announces like he's a cheesy DJ making a radio add for Monster Truck Rallies.
