Can always rely on you to overreact, Dunky. Good form.

To be honest, I don't think Burns-Broner is the be all and end all. I'd be more happy to see him vs either Vasquez or Abril, especially Vasquez. However, if he's avoiding Broner to fight lesser guys than that, then it's clearly disappointing.

Vasquez would be my personal choice style wise, I think it would be a cracking fight, but you can't deny that if a fighter like Broner calls you out and a mtchup could be made? you take it, imagine if he won, the plaudits he would get, its a fight he is capable of winning as well.

I have to say that I thought taking Broner on in February was too much of an ask,and that staement sounds a bit better than Scotland Today put it.
I heard that their share(I'm assuming not Ricky's purse) of the Mitchell fight was £400k,but I always point out that it's only gym speculation.

If Broner can impress against Abril(no easy task!:nono) then that net purse might not be out of the question.
I'm not saying for a second I agree but it's clearly a case of holding onto the Golden Goose, and how many of us wouldn't try to do the same?
    Thanks for posting that Dunky.

Has GBP actually made an offer to Ricky?

If neither side is making an offer, then no one is ducking.

That I don't know DF, but it is a fight that could be made, I don't think for one minute that Burns wouldn't take the fight, his team (excluding Billy Nelson) I'm not too sure about?

Ricky brings money Frank knows this.

I just wish people wouldn't jump to conclusions. Until we know for a fact that Broner and co have made an offer, it just seems ******ed that anyone claims ducking. I'm actually sick of people accusing others of ducking.

Why are some people so convinced that Burns 'wants the big fights'; I appreciate that he was willing to travel to Puerto Rico to fight Martinez when that bout was first mooted, but he was a mere Commonwealth champion then - of course he was willing to accept the short end of the stick.

It seems to me that he is not particularly displeased with his current lot.

I just think for as tough a fight as this,he should have a properly planned preparation.
If he'd KO'd Ocampo in a round,Feb would still have been too soon.I just think that a deal for the biggest and toughest fight of his career(plus having to travel) should be signed at least four months in advance.
Only my two cents though mate.

Ducking is the wrong term, there is far too much boxing politics involved to make that term realistic and viable but if the rumours are true and the fight isn't made, you have to think why?

You honestly believe Froch was just invited because of the belt? That's a bit naive, the belt obviously played a part but after the Pascal and Taylor fights, ofcourse they wanted Froch in there, he's the most exciting smw.

Put it this way, as a huge Burns fan who has paid top dollar to attend some of his fights, & im desperately trying to find an excuse, ANY excuse for Burns refusing the Broner fight. I can see some of my fellow Burns fans here are upto the same at the moment, blaming uncle Frank, blaming old Alex etc.
At the end of the day though? Frank was quoted as saying the final decision was Rickys. Alex Morrison said Ricky decided NO. Rickster is a big boy now, hes also a brainy lad, full time boxer, trained mechanic, works in a shop at weekends, you cant do all that if you cant think for yourself.

Im as honest as the day is long here, & it gives me no pleasure to say it, but IMO? Burns has DUCKED Broner. I know its hard for my fellow Burnsers to stomach here, im struggling to digest it myself.

I expect to be flamed for this, hated forever more by Billy Nelson & my fellow scots & fellow Burns fans, but **** it. What will be will be. This is the saddest day of my scottish boxing life though, up there with when Scotty Harrison knocked back a fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. I dont think I can take much more of this heartache!
