The main frustration with Khan is that some people believe that he has to be a superstar.

    He just isn't that good.

He's good, but with some serious flaws, that some people just wish to gloss over and nuthug.

Exactly. He would have got **** for stinking the joint out if he'd been ultra tentative.

Last night was an exercise. A way to try out some of Hunters methods. He'll never be a defensive master but given time, with help from Hunter, might learn to better protect that chin of his.

I see where you're coming from (Khan was indeed winning the fight quite clearly). However, he wasn't winning it in a manner in which Garcia was being completely shut out. He, Garcia, was very much in it. He began making adjustments and found success in reaching the target (especially with the body work), and even if Khan never got caught by the left-hook, the remaining rounds still would have been very interesting and I personally believe Garcia would have took him in deep waters. By no means was Khan's approach/game up until the got knocked down good enough to guarantee a win.

So, a change -- quite a big change -- is needed to get a win in the rematch. In my opinion, anyway. Because last night he was still leaving his chin hanging during exchanges (as evident by him getting caught repeatedly) and overcommitting in his offence. Virgil's got a tough task ahead of him.

just because khan won the first 2 rounds it does not mean khan was dominating garcia.
surely you have watched a few more fights in your life where boxers are losing the 1st half of the fight and then come back in the 2nd half
or a boxer is losing the fight and knocks the other boxer out in the later rounds or the last ten seconds of the fight ,froch//taylor ,mosley/morargo spring to mind.

That chin was still sticking out begging to be clipped and I thought of Garcia several times through the fight. But Khan richly deserved a confidence builder and Virgil and Ward seem very eager to point out that Khan is a million miles from their idea of the finished article.

But much as he gets on our tits,a Khan fight or appearance would be boring without a Freudian slip of mammoth proportions.
It just wouldn't be the same.

Thought Khan boxed 10rounds last night like 2 rounds against Garcia,ie no great improvement.BUT,hes a top fighter who fights top men{and not in Bolton}Maybe he cant beat Garcia but would be rooting for him if he tries.Would love to see him do it and better still the look on Papas face.

Tend to agree with this. One thing I'd say though is Garcia was looking for the dropped right hand from Khan after 2 minutes of the fight, and just waited out 2 more rounds to find that left hook to knock him down. I wonder how good Khan woudl have looked if Garcia decided to fight toe-to-toe for all 3 rounds? Garcia won without even having to box.

Khan is quite an easy fighter to beat, providing you don't get over awed by his speed, Garcia's tactics was perfect.

Disagree there. Of course he wasn't as improved as the commentators were going on about but IMO its clear to see there were a couple of minor, subtle improvements.

Yes, he was still getting clipped by left hooks but he wasn't as gung ho and wasn't bouncing around like the duracell bunny for 12 rounds like usual. He was a little more composed and a little more defensively aware. He also cut out the showboating which is an improvement in itself!

Small improvements but improvements nonetheless, still a long way to go before he gets where he wants to be (which is what Hunter is saying)

This. He's over achieved already. For people to think he's going to improve is madness.
