It's simple. Marquez is his kryptonite but he's still ahead in their 4 fight series.. 2-1-1.. FYI.. he only trained 5 weeks in the US, he left PHIL Oct 27.. I don't think his first few weeks training in PHI with buboy counts..
not making excuses.. just answering the thread question.. google it to find out that manny arrived in the US aroung Oct 27.. that's 5 weeks of training including the final week which should be light training. theres just too many bull**** he can't avoid during his training.
So Pac didn't train properly for a fight against a fighter, in Marquez, he knows has been extremely difficult in their 3 previous fights. That's not an excuse or reason, that's plain and simple stupidity by team Pac. Deserved to get KTFO! KO6
Level of competition and styles which these tougher opponents pull off... Marquez III, Bradley, and Marquez IV are head and shoulders tougher opponents than the lame stretch he went on of '10 Clottey, '10 Margarito, '11 Mosley. And Marquez and Bradley fight in ways with skillsets which none of the above listed or '09 Cotto, '09 Hatton, '08 Oscar, or '08 Diaz fight with/have.
who else could really go 5-0 against these guys (besides Floyd)? I'll admit it was clever matchmaking. Still impressive as those were the top guys around
second knockdown was a perfect punch but the first i was suprised to see Manny go down, if you see his face as he goes down you can tell his chin isnt as good as it once was, he recovered nicely tho
Bradley didn't beat him. That was bull****. However, he and Mosley did show that educated movement and angles can cause Pacquiao difficulty in setting up his attack and keep him from landing clean punches as often as he does when guys come forward or move straight back. Marquez, though, is just a great fighter. And to make matters worse, he has Pacquiao's number and does a better job each and every time they fight. As far as a decline goes, Pacquiao is declining, but it's no where near as pronounced as somebody like Lampley would lead you to believe. He's not in the "Thrilla in Manila" stage as he said on The Fight Game. I thought Pacquiao looked a step below what his 2008/2009 form, but certainly better than he did in the past year and a half or two years. I think under the right circumstances, he can really bring it, but against Mosley, Bradley, and Marquez III (which I think he believed would be something of a walk-over), he lacked serious motivation.
Personaly I feel there was some lack of focus. When you go in trying to get the knock out but lack that fire, bad things will happen. Pac had the fight going in his favor before that crushing right put him to sleep. He should of just kept working Marquez and not of got so over aggressive lunging in so careless the way he did.
Margarito yes Depending on how you look at it either Clottey beat Cotto or Cotto beat Clottey neither fighter coming off of a big defeat. Hatton looked completely fine vs paul Mosley if you watched that fight you know Mosley won.
as much as he wants to focus.. he just could not do it due to the amount of distractions.. it's something that freddy, ariza and others can't control.. even his wife jinky cant.. yes... manny isn't one of the sharpest knife in the drawer.. if he can't commit 100% to boxing, he has to retire for good.
Pretty much sums it up. Boxing is like a 1/5 of his life now. He's in politics, an entertainer, a pastor, and meets with national leaders on a daily basis. On top of that, a father and family-man. You can't half-ass it and expect to be successful. He was stupid to go for the KO with less than 5 secs to go when he was already winning the round - no focus. Anyways, yeah he isn't shot. Maybe a step down from 08-09, but not as bad as some people say. He looked better in his last fight than he did in the past 2-3 years. He was actually outboxing Marquez for the most part.
I hope that Pacquiao can bouce back from this KO loss. I really don't want to see his retirement now.
