Why do people feel Rigondeaux is more deserving of a Donaire fight than Mares?

Crazy to me. It's like saying Floyd Mayweather is ducking Kell Brook and Andre Ward is ducking Edwin Rodriguez- Rigondeaux has proved next to ****.

Lets take a look at their last 6 fights respectivly.

Mares:
- Yohnny Perez- coming off a win against Agbeko, along with Montiel the top rated Bantamweight at the time, it was a draw but the general consecous was Mares won.

- Vic Darchinyan- another top 5 fighter in the division, part of a highly competitve Bantamweight tournament.

- Joseph Agbeko 1- Final of said tourney, Agbeko was coming off a win vs Perez

- Joseph Agbeko 2- Rematch due to Russell Mora's shitty reffing in first fight, Mares put all doubts to bed with a convincing win.

-Eric Morel- first fight at Junior Featherweight against a solid former title holder who Mares shut out

-Anselmo Moreno- The top rated bantamweight by everyone, in The Ring- and several others p4p top 10 at the time of the fight- Mares gets a UD, even though Moreno was considered the favourite.

Now Rigondeaux last 6-

-Jose Beranza- bum with 18 losses

- Ricardo Cordoba- weak beltholder, 18 months removed from a TKO loss to Bernard Dunne, who was then blasted out in 3 by Poonsawat Kratingdaeggym, Rigondeaux won a razor thin SD and suffered a knockdown (from a jab)

- Willie Cassey- C Level fighter at best

- Rico Ramos- prospect with a belt, won it in his previous fight against Shimoda with a lucky knock out in a fight he was losing every round. Shimoda had won it on an upset against Ryo Li Lee, who himself had won it on an upset against Poonsawat Kratingdaeggym

Then in the next 2 B level fighter in Teon Kennedy and Robert Marroquin.

So why does Rigo deseve such a high profile fight in Donaire and why should Donaire be accused of ducking him??

Poonsawat was a massive step up in competiton for Rigondeaux before he got the AIDS, let alone Donaire a top pound for pound fighter!!

 

Because you got too much bandwagon cuban fans saying how great rigo was in the amatuers in which is why they think he's soo great that he can beat donaire and deserves a donaire fight lol. Mares has beaten FAR FAR FAR FAR MORE BETTER FIGHTERS THEN THE FIGHTERS RIGO HAS BEATEN!!

 

You might be surprised, that despite being the pro game, part of the reason was because he has 2 gold medals.

 

I know. I'm waiting for the Cubans to arrive with their "arguments".

I think I actually want to see Donaire fight Rigondeaux just to expose him.

 

Steve Redgrave has 5. Do people think he should fight Donaire?

 

And Michael Phelps has most ever in history. Maybe he deserves it more.

Me too. I want to see both donaire and canelo fight both rigo and lara cause both lara and rigo are SOOO OVERRATED!! its laughable. Lara best win was against a ruined chin that was coming off a brutal ko Paul Williams while Rigo best win was against who?

 

I don't think many think Rigondeaux should get the fight before Mares the problem is Golden Boy and TopRank rarely work together to make fights and thus making Mares vs Donaire unlikely.

 

Does it mean Both Vitali /Wlad was scared to fight Harrison since Harrison had an awesome amatuer career?

 

They both have decent claim, Rigo does need a little more brewing though. I do want to see both fights next year, either order is fine by me

 

I think most fans understand the business that is why.
Goldenboy & Top Rank fued, Rigo fight is easier to make.
(It's not about what fighter deserves it anymore)

 

For me it's Mares over Rigo for now. However, since I know Arum won't work with GBP I've just given up hope. So what's the next best thing? RIGONDEAUX.

 

Mares deserves that fight. That ****in Mares fights to win and there is no fear in him. He will keep Donaire on his A game all fight long and thats the position I wanna see Donaire fight his way out of. Somebody is getting knocked out ( probably Mares ) but who knows. It will the rumble of the tiny titans. I can't wait.

nobody says that Rigo is more deserving, Mares is of course more deserving, but there are 2 promotional companies which owners hate the crap out of each others.Did you hear the story?
Rigo belongs to the same promoter Donaire belongs, thats what makes the fight possible.
