He stepped up to 135 to face a much more proven opponent.

The fight with Broner is never going to happen.

Burns is a classy operator and a very likable guy, but he cannot beat Broner. No.

Firstly, they don't 'claim to be 2 weight world champions, they ARE 2 weight world champions. that cannot be argued with.

Secondly, and don't know who many times this has to be cleared up, he did not 'run to 35' to get away from broner, he moved up as he physically could not make sfw anymore. much the same as broner probably can't anymore. it's called natural progression as you get older. it's just coincedential, and of course all you broner fan boys jump on it like flies to shite.

And, where has he said he won't fight broner? cos as far as i can see, he said he will fight him after his next defence.

SO, he has said he will fight him, but is still getting accused of ducking???

**** ME!! some people are just thick i suppose, read the article, and TAKE IT IN, don't just see what you want to see.

The fight will happen, and broner will get what's coming to him, you'll all see.

Once again Billy let's himself down on here. As if Ricky is on the same level as Carl. Both you and Ricky have dug yourself a hole with the Broner fight. Both have claimed they wanted it next and you'd beat him. Now Ricky has said he doesn't want the fight next its obvious people are going to play the duck card. And don't be so defensive to everyone that dares to claim Ricky inst P4P1 everyone's entitled to an opinion.

really don't understand the mental capacity of some people on here saying burns is ducking.

    lets recap here:

Burns said he wants another fight first, before fighting broner.
broner is also going to fight another fight first, probably richard abril.
burns said he will fight broner after his next fight.
    broner wants the fight.
    burns wants the fight.
the fight will happen most probably.

so really, the only reason folks are saying burns is ducking, is because broner called him out on tv and burns decided he wants another fight first, this is the fight that walsh/ocampo would have been, except it is a little bit later in the year.

so does king broner :)rofl ) just expect anyone to drop everything and fly over and fight at a minutes notice? and if they do not agree straight away, while at the same time thinking to themselves, "omg, the mighty king broner :)rofl ) has spoken, i must go straight away, i'm so lucky to be getting a shot to fight him", then this means they are ducking???

    are you ****ing serious????

I think there's no doubt that Ricky, Billy and maybe even Frank want the fight but Morrison who Burns feels a lot of loyalty towards clearly has other ideas.

There was no point in fighting Walsh, Ocampo or whoever they have lined up at the end of January. If the Broner fight isn't happening on Feb 16th I'd be very disappointed. Morrison claims Burns needs another defence but how is fighting some muppet going to enhance his chances against the problem. I've been to see Ricky about 10 times but there's no chance I'll be attending his next bout.

Actually Broner is the main guy in the division (name/tv/money/hype) so he really does hold all the cards.

I like Burns but this is not true, he is a 2 weight belt holder, he has never been the world champion.

so what if burns went on telly and called out broner?? then broner declines.

would this mean that broner is ducking??

or is it just a one way rule??

the mind boggles, it really does!!

Mate, the alphabet straps are meaningless to me and many others, they can be bought and can be given out to fighters that have ties with certain promoters or because of fighters nationality, could you honestly call Nathan Cleverly a world champion?

well as much as i may or may not agree with that, he does hold the WBO's version of the world title, so technically yes, he should be recognised as a world champion, just like ricky burns is. whether you agree with it or not, that's the way it is m8 :)

Despite never winning it in the ring and his **** poor opponents since? To be called a world champion, you have to be the man in your division, Wlads the world Champion at Heavyweight, Andre Ward at Super Middleweight, Martinez at Middleweight and so on, others may have a title round their waist but they are meaningless.
