Would you place that version of Duran in the top ten all time Welterweights in h2h matchups... if so where abouts? If he's below top ten material.. where would you rank him?

is there anything above number 1?

seriously, it's tough. on that ONE NIGHT, a case could be made for a top 10 h2h at 147. even top 5 depending on how highly you rate leonard h2h (i have him around 3) and how dominant you think duran was (i have it pretty wide for hands of stone)

Anyone who can beat that version if Leonard has to be one of the very best welterweights in history.

Id put him below Robinson and hearns and noone else if I'm feeling a bit of Duran love is due.

You think? Nah, he'd be more aggressive than he was in his actual fight with Benitez at 154lbs, but that would just play into Benitez's hands. Ray didn't know how to fight off the ropes. Benitez was the master at it. Mid-rounds stoppage.

The fight against Benitez took place either in center ring or with Benitez against the ropes. You try to fight off the ropes against the Duran of that night, you're toast. I don't care who you are. And if Leonard couldn't hold Duran off with the mid-range game, Benitez sure ain't.

I actually do think it'd be a good fight, though. They match up well.
