8 rounds in Chicago. Former solid top 75 fighter Mollo returns from a 3 year layoff. Not a great fight for Szpilka unless Mollo has something left (not that he was ever that good)
I like it. Mollo is a tough guy enough to prove if Szpilka is any serious HW force! The whole card is good actually awkward light middleweights Molina-Spinks and Smith-Castillo could be good crossroads and an exciting contender in Don George on U/C plus this.
Decent fight especially coming off a jaw and ankle injury but there was talk of Szpilka fighting another Polish prospect Zimnoch. I hope that still happens afterwards.
Szpilka and Zimnoch trashed each other quite alot, something to do with Zimnoch beating Szpilka in the ams, and putting him down for the count or something of the sort, Szpilka reacted very lively to this I think Zimnoch would be a better opponent for Szpilka than Mollo coming off a 3 year layoff
I like the fight, lets not forget that Szpilka has a very limited amount of experience at pro level, would be quite a good fight i think
Yeah, I don't really understand guys stepping up their level of competition but scaling down the # of rounds. Hamer is coming off a scheduled 10-rounder. Glazkov is coming off three. Szpilka is coming off two. Mollo has fought twelve rounders. Where do they get eight? :huh
Perhaps the NBC? time requirements dictated 8 rounds? That or Dibella thinks its easier to sell a robbery the fewer rounds there are.
This is garbage. Szpilka will kill Mollo within 6 rounds. Szpilka needs to step up & fight someone like Arreola. Now that would be s fight to get excited about!
FFS Szpilka has 12 pro fights, only 7 at HW and is 22 yrs old. He's just coming back from a broken jaw and ankle injury, compare his level of progress to Price 30, Wilder 27 or even Fury 24. You expect him to fight Arreola in his 8th HW fight coming of injuries, really? Szpilka fought 6 fights in the 12 months and keeps busy, at that frequency if he keeps winning and slighty raising his level of opposition he could be a contender by the end of the year.
