Obviously this is illegal for good reason, but how effective would it be in defending from the take down,if it where legal in mma?
Very! It is used in Muay Boran and also maybe in Muay Lao too :think I'm sure the downwoard elbow to the neck comes from Krabi Krabong... I might be wrong. Boran will know. Lynchburg
**** yeah - the downward elbow to the back of someone's head is a nice move to use when they shoot in on you. You can do some major damage to someone that way. Incidentally - this is the move that David Haye dropped Dereck Chisora with during their press conference brawl.
It happens in muay thai if someone turns their back. i'm told the foul (if there is one) is against the one who turned their back not the one who hit them with their back turned.
That is correct. If you turn your back it is showing no intent to fight. Where is Boran at? He knows all of this ****... he is the Thai/Boran master! Lynchburg
Well we have a living example in Muhammad Ali of what might happen if you take one to many punches on the nape of the neck. And the spine is also one of those organs that the doctors dont want to touch to much cuz it easily takes damage and permanent damage can lead to not being able to walk again
I'm not suggesting they make it legal :thumbsup there was a television program on not too long ago very similar to 'the human weapon' where one of the presenters with a background in judo tries to take someone down and gets elbowed in the spine and he's out for a while.
