For all UK fans talking about FW keeping Burns down and preventing this fight from happening.

Then explain how Carl Froch was able to convince FW. To allow him to come to the United States and fight Taylor and also fight in the Supersix.

I'm not calling Burns a ducker. But he could at least try to convince his promoter. Instead of staying quiet and doing what he says like a good little boy.

FW doesn't manage/promote every fighter in the UK.So why would Carl Froch have to persuade him to let him join the super 6.

Sometimes it is better to let people think you are a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I'm prepared to possibly give Burns until the summer to see if this happens, based on the fact he's had two opponents pull out and awful preparation for a February bout with Broner. His manager Alex Morrison said he would prefer Burns to have another fight first which sounds sensible.

It depends who the fight is with in January though. If it's Liam Walsh or an opponent the level of the guys he's been fighting recently, it's hardly great prep either. I'd like to see a serious world-level opponent for once in January as a show of intent to say 'I want Adrien Broner late spring/early summer'.

That said, if Broner fights and beats Abril in February and Burns then calls him out for a sumer bout, I wouldn't blame Broner at all for telling him to get ****ed and moving up to 140 for bigger fights. Burns will have had his opportunity to fight Broner twice and blown it twice.

I do get the sense there's ducking from his side, though I'm not sure whether it's him and his management not wanting to risk losing the belt, or ****** wanting to keep him away. I think they should take it though. If he loses, so what? It's to a guy who'll be a P4P very soon, who'll then move up to 140. Burns is good enough to come again and establish himself at the top of a desolate 135 pile again, with the chance to pick up one of two vacant belts.

That would probably be because he was with Mick Hennessy instead.

You use that logic when its a fighter you dont like, but when your boyfriend retired when he could meet Cotto, Mosley, P Williams and Margarito he didnt duck anyone?:hi:

That sounds to me like you don't want Broner to pay the man what he's due Dwight.:think

If you wanted the fight so much, why the problem with paying a man what he deserves?

    What he's due?

Yeah, right. Like he's making big money. They offered him many times more than he's ever made.

It's called pricing one's self out of a fight. A known ducking tactic!

Burns is asking for about $650,000 after taxes and fees. That equates to about a $1.1MM purse. To give you some perspective, neither Froch or Ward got that much in their unification bout that took place in the Super 6 finals. I don't believe Burns or his people are confident they can beat Broner. As such, they want an astranomical payday if they are going to come over to the States to get beat up on national T.V.
