Why do people feel Rigondeaux is more deserving of a Donaire fight than Mares?

Wow you found one(more credit to him) can you name 5 more?

  3. No the two scores of 116-110 was about right, people was upset that Mares was punching low but it was more Agbeko 2 low, than Agbeko 1, and he swarmed Moreno but I fought that was a sound tactic. Moreno got a point deducted for holding Mares head down- which he was- but I think a point deduction each would have been fair.

Rigondeaux would beat the **** out of Mares, point blank period. All that dirty **** wouldn't even be happening either without retaliation.

Rigondeaux beat Cordoba, who had beaten Cellistino Cabballero in Caballero's home country when Caballero was at 122. Rigondeaux beat Cordoba in only his 7th pro fight. That is nothing to trivialize. The knockdown was a knee caused by a jab, a flash knockdown. Rigondeaux wasn't even hurt. Call Ramos what you want, but he was a legit top ten guy. As a matter of fact, it is arguable that Cordoba and Ramos are both better than Vazquez Jr, Arce, Mathebula, and Nishioka. Arce is old, and not that good. Vazquez lost to Arce, and hadn't beaten anyone of note. Mathebula was plain awful. Nishioka, was actually a quality 122 pounder about a year and a half ago before he retired. He was talked out of retirement, to get one last pay check against Donaire. He had been off for a year, and we all saw that wasn't the Nishioka who was once considered one of the top 122 pounders. Cordoba and Ramos are also better than any 122 pounder that Mares has faced. Moreno, while a quality opponent, is a bantamweight.

Mares will be exposed soon enough, whether he faces Donaire, or Rigondeaux. Either fight will end in him getting KO'd.

Those two scores were pretty bad. As with all of Mares' fights, he gets the benefit of Golden Boy paying judges to give him from a 3 to 8 round cushion. There is no way in hell that Moreno didn't win at least five rounds in that fight, just as there was no way in hell Agbeko only won two rounds across the board in the rematch.

    I need to see it.

  9. Yukinori Oguni has only had 10 and in beating Serie in his 9th fight, I think that's an equal if not better to anyone Rigondeaux has fought. Plus Oguni (and Ioka) haven't had a million amateur fights like Rigondeaux- and that's just 2 active boxers!

Agbeko threw his gameplan out the window in the rematch, you could tell by how wild and uncontrolled he was that he fought damn near the whole fight angry, instead of just using his boxing to deal with Mares. It was clear from the first fight that he was the better boxer. He was so wild and out of control in the rematch all Mares had to do was step back and box.

Let me correct your post buddy.. :yep

Donaire is the man to beat @122 right now, and the real question would be..

Who deserves to challenge him.. If we base this on the accomplishments, It would definitely be Mares.. He helped Donaire clear the division fighting half of the worth mentioning guys and beating them.. :deal

WHen we base this on the fight styles, It would also be Mares.. Imagine him putting pressure on Donaire the way he did against Moreno.. That would be amazing to watch whereas if we compare it to Rigondeaux. . . :think You know, the guy has talents.. Speed, power, and boxing IQ.. But the thing is, he's so tentative.. EVen on lesser opponents.. Then, how much more if he'll face DOnaire? :think Just my opinion.. You know, strange things really happens.. :conf

You people realize that Cordoba had beaten Caballero at 122. That is nothing to scoff at. Rigondeaux outboxed Cordoba fairly easily in just his 7th pro fight.

Okay, if that's the case, then why does Mathebula get flak from you people when he fought a razor close loss to the same Caballero you are talking about?

That's double standard in case you are not familiar with it.

And one more thing, millions of people saw that fight, it ain't easy outboxing.

While Mares has faced better opposition at 118, and 122, than Donaire, the fact that he received questionable decisions, i.e. help from the judges, or referees to win against his best opposition doesn't make Mares the man to beat. Donaire is the name. The guy with the athleticism, and one punch power, the handspeed. Mares is the guy with the patented low blow combinations, headbutts, and bullrushes.
