Calzaghe got dropped by an almost 50 year old RJJ?

Only a complete moron or a weirdly obsessed hater (the later of which you obviously are) would try and deny that he probably would've medaled. Like I said earlier, I would've fancied him to win a silver at the very least. Odd how former victims of his Richie Woodhall and Robin Reid were able to grab medals but Joe with his style that was very well suited to the amateurs, and who'd looked sensational in that years ABAs, easily beating the likes of future WBC super-middleweight champion Glen Catley (who should've been a two time world champion after beating Woodhall in everyone bar the judges eyes, including Woodhall's) and future British super-middle & light-heavy champion), Commonwealth light-heavy champion, and the European champion at super-middle too, Dean Francis along the way (Francis had the talent to win world titles too but he was never the same fighter after suffering a terrible shoulder injury), but Joe wouldn't have been able to do the same even though he was levels above them? lol.

The only obstacle that stood in Woodhall's way of winning the silver was Roy Jones (Richie beat the other bronze medalist in the Commonwealth games final in Aukland in 1990 and was 2-1 against him over all by the way).

Another Calzaghe victim Jeff Lacy was one win away from nabbing an Olympic bronze too and we all know what Joe did to him. Completely different class of fighter. lol. I guess Lacy's style was more suited to achieving success in the amateurs than Calzaghe's was though, right? lol. The only obstacle that stood in Lacy's way of winning a bronze was the great Russian Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov. Lacy was a good amateur himself (he won over 200 fights), but Gaydarbekov was a special talent and the reigning Olympic champion at the weight and he would've had another Olympic gold to add to his collection of trophies had he not went onto to lose a controversial, razor tight 17-15 decision in the final against the excellent Cuban Jorge Gutierrez.

Gaydarbekov's CV is insane and it's a damn shame he, like so many of the amateur greats from Communist countries, never turned pro. In addition to beating Lacy, he also holds amateur victories over Jermain Taylor, Zsolt Erdei, Gennady Golovkin, Matvey Korobov, Romanian great Marian Simion, Utkirbek Haydarov (who himself was on the wrong end of a controversial 15-17 decision against Andre Ward in the semi-finals of the 2004 Olympics in Athens), Ismayl Sillakh, and Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam among others.

But by all means you keep telling yourself that Joe wouldn't have medaled if it helps you overcome your illness. lol
