Marquez, hard to dispute that even though Pac won 2 & 3.

The manner in which he won easily edges the narrow wins Pac managed against him.

I didn't. It was clear that Manny was the better fighter and that Marquez had a great style for him. Manny would have given Floyd a better fight than Marquez did by beating outclassed for 12 rounds. And the guys Manny fought the last 5 years compared to who Marquez fought except for fighting Mayweather and losing easily shows how much higher Manny should be ranked.

Nobody is asking who the greater fighter is, TS is asking who won the rivalry.

You have a draw and 2 very highly disputed wins in which its universally accepted that it could have gone either way, then you have a brutal KO.

In such a case, the one with brutal KO logically takes it.

and no, its NEVER been clear that Manny was the "better fighter" or else he would have at least ONE convincing win over Marquez, which he never has.

I love the knockout and it gives JMM's career a good boost, but the fact is he had a good style against Manny. But a knockout against an older Pacman does not erase the other results. But in the mind of the general public it is hard to see a guy knocked cold like that and to think about anything else, so unless Pacman wins the rematch decisively, that knockout will be the picture people get of the series of fights. That is what people will remember. So it helps JMM in the discussion who wins the series, but to me the winner is Manny on the 4 fights and mainly quality of opposition compared to JMM who really did not beat many great guys when they were prime or past lightweight.

When a guy like JMM has a good style for Pacman and still loses two close decisions I think Manny has the edge. Barkley had a good style for Hearns also. I would have liked to see more wins by JMM over the same type of guys Pacman beat like Delahoya,Mosley,Margarito.Cotto etc. And he could not have done it. Same as Barkley could never beat the guys Hearns beat like Virgil Hill.

in a few years when the memory of this last and 4th fight fades and the whole series is thought about, Manny will be seen as the winner. Right now we are still thinking about that knockout. It was a great knockout.

Again, bringing up pther fighters into this has NOTHING to do with this thread...this is about who won the rivalry between MARQUEZ AND PACQUAIO, not who has accomplished more and beaten better fighters.

Actually that KO will be the most remembered thing about the series, almost guaranteed.

first one is debatable, a draw is very fine for me. The second and third I had Marquez winning, and the fourth he knocked Pacquiao out. Marquez clearly wins the rivalry

it matters since this is about legacy. It is like asking who won the series between Hearns and Barkley. Barkley of course. Who is HOF and an ATG Hearns. Not many even think of Barkley as HOF. But I think Manny, and I think his resume also means something and explains the matchup.

could be. It was such a great knockout. I didn't think Manny should give JMM another chance for fear JMM wins the decision, but I never thought it would end like that.

and the knockout will be remembered, but after a few years this poll will not be 37-6 in favor of JMM since time makes all fights equal. Now the 4th fight is going to stand out being 2 weeks later so having a poll now 2 weeks after that fight is too soon to have objectivity about who won the series. It will favor JMM now for sure. JMM has the most dominant win out of the 4 fights.
