    Here it is.

Here's another one where Joe talks about how the problems with his hands forced him to altar his style.

Jones never had his face busted open so bloody in his career. His own cut man didn't know what to do and he lost the fight.

    Just the facts man.

And BTW: Jones could still whup the sht outta' 99.9% of any twenty something year old on the planet including you no matter what age you are :yep

freakish amount of time on these boards?? did you just see this last post you wrote?

in all fairness to serge, he's the most intelligent calzaghe sympathizer i've seen on these boards. he argues his points with real facts and proof to try to back these facts.

as far as calzaghe-reid goes, you can't compare amateur and pro fights to say how they would have done. look no further than tyson-tillman. it's a stretch to say joe would have won a medal because it's a long process to get to the games and you don't know where you're going to be put in the draw. was joe talented enough to win a medal? probably so.

i really don't have a problem with joe at all. my problem is with fans of joe claiming he's one of the greats of the sport. he finally had a breakthrough fight at 34 yrs of age vs jeff lacy. let me repeat, jeff lacy. that's embarrassing when you compare it to what other truly great fighters did. joe was still a really good fighter but hardly an atg. history won't be kind to him.

Thanks for posting those up mate, the one with Frank ****** was shocking, can't believe Joe would wrap his own hands before a fight.

As for his style, I think the change benefitted Joe to an extent, he had no power but he was able to show how smart and skilled he was. The Kessler performance was impressive, it was close to begin with, then Kessler couldn't keep up as Joe moved through the gears

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

You stated that Joe Cal is head and shoulders above Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran. You are obviously beyond reasonable explanations.

Doing something that stupid will define you for life. It's like banging the fattest, ugliest girl in school. No matter what you do for the rest of your time on ESB you will be known for making one of the dumbest statement ever posted on these boards.

    Agree with this.

The other problem with many Calzaghe fans on here is that a lot of the time they rate him based on what they just blindly assume he could/would have done rather than what he actually did, which is ridiculous and indicative of his thin resume.

I said the freakish amount of time you've spent on these boards trying to discredit Calzaghe, which is true no?, not that you spend a freakish amount of time on here.

Is that an oxymoron? lol. My posts might be long-winded (conciseness is a skill that I clearly need to work on though. Check out the length of this one. lol) but they're few and far between. I've been around here for a long time and have had quite a few other accounts on here over the years by the way, although my combined post tally of all of them would still only be in the hundreds.

Thanks. When you're not in shitting on Calzaghe troll mode you're a good poster yourself (I read the Classic forum too). In fact, I think we've even conversed on Youtube before. IIRC, you asked me if I had Roy Jones' entrance for the Wood's fight, well I think it might have been you. I've uploaded lots of Jones' fights on Youtube. There are some other good Calzaghe ''sympathizers'' on here on here too though man and they provide plenty of real facts and proof as well, proof which many (mainly those with agendas) refuse to believe even though I know it to be true.

Probably so??! Jesus man! That there tells me how badly you underrate Joe's talent and ability. Of course he had the talent to win a medal. He had the talent to win a gold IMO. He's one of the most talented fighters the UK has ever produced (and no, I'm not one of those who thinks he's the best British fighter of all time). Richie Woodhall had the talent to win a bronze, and even a silver had he not been unlucky enough to have Roy Jones standing in the opposite corner to him in the semi-final (Jones said Woodhall was a very hard puncher by the way). Robin Reid had the talent to win a bronze too, Reid couldn't beat Joe on his absolute, injury ravaged worst day. Jeff Lacy very well could have won a bronze had he not drawn the reigning Olympic champion (who as I said was an absolutely fantastic fighter) in the quarter final. There are countless Olympic medalists who didn't possess anywhere near as much natural talent as Calzaghe did, and plenty of them were gold medalists too. As a side note, Joe beat at least five guys who qualified for that years Olympics in the pro ranks by the way.

And yes, I know the amateurs and the pros are different. However, as I've already explained earlier, Joe's style was even more suited to the amateurs than it was the pros in many ways. All his loses in the amateurs occurred in the junior ranks, he never lost another fight once he moved up to the senior ranks and had physically matured from the skinny little rail thin stick insect of his junior days. As I said before, he won three consecutive ABA titles, at three different weights, winning every single one his bouts convincingly, and he stopped all but one opponent on route to winning the second and third titles up at light-middle and middle respectively. He was a completely different animal than the one we saw lose a razor tight MD to Michael Smyth. I think he was actually better back then than he was for most of his first 20 pro fights (and I say that as someone who has seen all of his pro fights, and at least 15-20 of his amateur ones, ranging from his school days to his last one in the unpaid ranks). He was very sloppy and excitable in some of his early pro bouts and had a tendency to sometimes sacrifice technique in the pursuit of trying to get his opponents out of there quickly to impress the TV cameras.

Joe beat guys Reid lost to in the amateurs and he beat all their shared common opponents in the pro ranks with consummate ease, fighters Reid struggled against. They also used to spar together at the team GB gym and according to Joe he always handled him with ease (although we only have Joe's word on that). Calzaghe was just in a different league to him, Reid just got hella lucky he caught Joe at the time he did. A healthy, injury free Calzaghe, who'd actually been able to prepare properly and spar more than a handful of rounds, and throw plenty of hard punches with his power hand for the entire fight, like he did against Eubank, beats Reid 10 times out of 10 IMO, amateur or pro.

Here's a video of Reid struggling against a fighter named Trevor Ambrose (very nice finish by Reid in this one though - he could really crack with that right hand of his), Joe blasted out Ambrose in a couple of rounds without having to move out of second gear.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8o0UwJxKEiQ[/ame]

The guy the Welsh ABA sent to the box off (Matthew Turner) didn't stand a chance in hell of winning ****. Joe was far more talented and decorated than him and they should've sent him instead. Turner turned pro too by the way, finishing with an overall record of 1-2 (both loses coming via early stoppage, the second of which to a guy named Vince Rose. Calzaghe Lacy-ed Rose in the ABA welterweight semifinal. lol. Rose was pissing blood out of his mouth and nose like a broken fire hydrant.

And we do know who he would've met in the draw had he qualified. Surely he would've fought the same opponents Reid fought?

Defeated Marcus Thomas (Barbados) KO 1
    Defeated Leonidas Maleckis (Lithuania) points
    Defeated Ole Klemetsen (Norway) points
Lost to Orhan Delibas (Netherlands) points

Joe beats all of them IMO, although the last two were better than the first two. He'd already beaten Klemetsen in a round (allegedly). The only guy I could see beating him would've been the Cuban Lemus who beat Delibas in the final.

Thomas and Delibas also turned pro, neither of them ever beat anyone decent and they both lost every single time they stepped up in in class. Thomas (who'd been stopped twice in major championships as an amateur) was 10-5 in the pro ranks, all his loses coming via way of stoppage (4 of which came against southpaws) - 3 in the first round, although admittedly most of his loses were against decent opponents. Delibas finished up with an overall record of 28-2 (both loses coming via stoppage, against good quality opposition again though - an undefeated Roman Karmazin being one of them).

This post is already way to long as it is. I'll come back to this at a later date. To be honest I can't be bothered going over this **** now, it's a whole new can of worms and I've been down that road too many times to remember. Usually I don't bother wasting my time arguing with haters but you sucked me in and at least you seem somewhat open to taking on board other's opinions, so I will come back to it. And I'm certainly not interested in wasting my time arguing with any other Calzaghe haters or people with patently obvious agendas at this present time either.

One thing I will say before I depart though is, regardless of whether you or anyone else thinks Calzaghe was an ATG, he WAS a great fighter man, and he had a style that was extremely difficult to beat when he was injury free and at his best (even at his absolute worst he was still a ******* to fight). And unlike many of his peers, he was a great STEROID free fighter, ie. he relied on good old-fashioned hard work and dedication to achieve his goals as opposed to CHEATING, which is something that is often conveniently overlooked by many on here.
