When you read the posts, they're bashing Manny, instead of recognizing he's generally hard to time despite his mistakes. When you hate on a fighter you diss both their conquered and their conquers, I'm pro-boxing.

I post a lot about Manny's avenues for success because the dominant narrative is a mindless assumption that Floyd does everything better than Marquez. I've made plenty of posts talking about things Floyd can do to win in his own style, but that doesn't add as many new ideas to a popularly held belief.

    :rofl

    Love that avatar btw.

Look who's talking about losing avatar bets :patsch don't make me bring up every bull**** prediction you've made by simply going with the fighter you like.

Well said champ. Wondered why so many people were shitting on pac himself. Like you said, the guy on his A game is incredibly hard to read and react to. NO one has been able to do it outside of Juan. That says it all

Manny Pac is a great fighter and, until proven otherwise, it still takes another great fighter to beat him. No one can duplicate what JMM does in that ring. Hell, I'm partially convinced, in studying each fight, that JMM himself approached all four fights differently.

Furthermore, I'm not even convinced that Marquez's style is ideal for handling someone like Pac. He is a counterpuncher who gets hit pretty regularly. He is basically guaranteed to go through hell whenever he fights Pac, and was getting tagged with clean blows in that last fight.

Tremendous heart, above average chin, phenomenal recuperative abilities. But how many people are going to step into the fire with Pac and come out standing, landing KO blows, no less.

If I'm a trainer preparing my guy for Pac, I'm studying EM much more than I am JMM.

That was the fight that turned pac to PEDs

After that crippling loss, he turned into an unstoppable monster who ate his way through the divisions

    Good post.

Well, taking the 2nd and 4th fights, that's true. But I'd take rounds 2-12 of the first fight and the entire 3rd fight over Morales's generally riskier combination of countering and following up with pressure work towards the inside. Morales dominated exchanges, whereas Marquez neutralized Pac's angle to the point of rarely ever getting into any.

Lets see only avatar bets ive lost were picking Mayweather to win 10-2 against Cotto, and land double the jabs. On both accounts i was nearly right. The other was predicting Martinez to KO Chavez.

Circumstantial losses where I picked he victor but was merely slightly off on their margin of victory.

You take straight up L's spaz. "Ohhh angles, angles, angles" :rofl

2 wrong picks in upsets doesn't bother me. Trust me, your record for bull**** predictions is much worse. Keep mockin because everybody knows you're either too slow or to blinded by Floyd's **** to ever keep up in an adult conversation.

lol... Well, we can only expect Morales to be Morales (i.e. turning southpaw in round 12) and he had the dimensions to trouble Pac (5'8" frame, rangy jab). I got the impression in that fight that Morales could have won that fight a little bit easier if he wanted to. He's just too ****ing crazy.

What should have been replicable, particularly in the higher weight divisions, was Erik's ability to use his range offensively. The natural inclination for taller fighters is to let the short guy come forward. Erik moved forward behind jabs and straight rights, forcing Manny to retreat.

JMM allows Pac to come forward and dictate, and maybe he has no choice. But Pac is a beast when he's moving forward. The flaws in his footwork are more obvious when he's retreating (see round 3 a couple of weeks ago).

^ Your also referring to a fight where Manny still looked fairly raw. Not to take credit away from Morales, but Pacquiao was one-handed back then and had absolutely no defense to speak of. He's been fully developed since then. Contrast Pacquiao's performance in the first fight to the 2nd and 3rd.

JMM just has Pac's number. He reads him like a book. I'm sure he's spent endless hours studying Pacquiao and every move and feint that he makes. Pacquiao should get more credit for fighting the guy as many times as he did. Most fighters would have stayed far the **** away from somebody like that who given them hell.

Great points. Pressure from a tall guy can be hell, and Erik used that to his advantage. I suppose it depends on what your guy is best at, like any other fight. Manny has improved as a counter-puncher over the years, but he's still much more vulnerable and ineffective retreating on his opponent's terms. Use the right feints and he gets all out of position; both of these shots have Marquez duck low, diverting his gaze while feinting to the body, and Manny's lead leg is the one he moves first, instead of his back leg, throwing him off balance.

It takes very conscious fighters in EM and JMM to weather the eye of the storm like that and have success.

Like hell he does. Marquez is just a great fighter who has the skills and IQ necessary to hang with someone like Pac. Has his number? Nah... The fights are too close to say that.

Also this was the fourth fight so JMM should be ****ing comfortable with Pac in the ring.
