Why does Mayweather NEVER fight the best? Serious fight after fight after fight either he waits till their old and no longer a risk or he just fights someone who he knows wont be a risk. For his next fight he is fighting Guerrero when he could fight a much riskier and better opponent in Alvarez. He dosent give a **** about what the fans want or what will be better for his legacy he just gives a crap about money. Its pathetic and I wont be buying this **** on PPV instead ill be going to first row sports online and watching it for free!!

Well, you say much riskier and better opponent in Alvarez. But in terms of resume, I'd probably have Guerrero above Alvarez. I'd also probably put Guerrero ahead in terms of skill level. And experience level. Alvarez may have a bright future in the sport, but so far, his hype is greater than what his resume and experience actually is.

Alvarez has the physical advantage in the Mayweather match up in comparison to Guerrero, but honestly, you'd be pushed to find many more areas he holds the advantages in.

:D True story, I was just about to post this.

No matter how great you are and how good your resume is, people will still question your legacy. Being one of the best should be enough; might as well get paid. Does it really matter if he's top 30 or top 50? What's really the difference?

Why work towards a title that will always be debated (GOAT), when most of the ATG died broke? Get paid, get in the hall of fame, get the **** out.

Let the hungry dudes take the **** over. They'll fight everyone because they have no choice.

What the **** has Canelo done to warrant a fight agains Mayweather? **** all.

So **** off with that bull ****.

Pac's last two bouts were against fighters moving up in weight.

Yet Mayweather can't fight one of the best in his own division.

    Go do one!

The obvious plan is for a Mayweather vs. Guerrero Matchup in May for Cinco De Mayo, stick Alvarez on the undercard (possibly against Cotto, I'd consider him less of a risk than the Trout fight which I think he'll avoid for now with an impending possible Floyd payday on the horizon should he get past Miguel). Then in September we'll see Floyd vs. Alvarez for Mexican Independence Day, makes sound business and marketing sense to me.

True to an extent, but he should have enough millions to pay the bills if he wanted. He usually looks for highest reward lowest risk, which is fine. But its not as if fights against Pac, Martinez etc wouldnt pay the bills too. Guerrero is an ok fight, its just a pity he didnt fight the likes of Pac, to 'pay the bills' and boost his legacy at the same time. he possibly could be 50-0 at this stage if he cared more about legacy, and he had the talent to do it which is the kind of annoying thing. But he has still achieved a lot either way.

Guerrero isn't as stiff a challenge as say Trout with his rangy southpaw boxing/long jab or Canelo with his size, physical strength, explosiveness, and power, but it's a good fight for him after a year of inactivity if he wants to campaign at welterweight right now.

With Marquez, it's been there, done that. With Pacquiao, it's not going to happen for a plethora of reasons. So who does that leave? Guerrero's coming off a good stretch of wins from featherweight on up and proved his worth by mauling Andre Berto for 12 rounds. I think he's better than Ortiz honestly and I think he's earned a shot if this fight comes off. Bradley wouldn't be a bad option either, although I think Guerrero would probably sell more tickets and PPVs.

Mayweather has no respect for the intelligence of most of his fans(and who could blame him), so knows that he will be able to speak a mountain of bull**** about how he didn't duck anyone and always fought the best, and his fans will unquestioningly accept this distorted version of reality.

Please stop making these threads please. Legacy is nothing but a popularity contest. Its funny how Manny gets fighter of the decade by beating lessor versions of the same opponents Mayweather beat before him but its always a cherry pick or duck no matter who Floyd fights. 2nd, this is another Matthew Hatton, Eric Morales, whatever rumor and is not set in stone. Stop falling for the same bull**** every year.

    3rd...
Manny wouldnt even fight the ghost (too much of a risk) so please stop with the double standards. What Manny eats doesnt make Floyd ****. JMM is easy work. Bradley is easy work. Rios is easy work. But heres the confusion. I gurantee Manny wouldnt fight Ortiz even now. He wont even fight Cotto at 154 pounds so please just stop with this bias bull****.

He will already be touted as a great fighter. If I were to mention Nicolino Locche, he would garner nothing but respect for being an exceptional fighter, not for his resume. And Mayweather's legacy and resume are pretty good.
