How much do you think the winner will make for the rematch with Ward?

Not nearly as much, Ward isn't a draw anywhere but the small area of Oakland

    Ward-Dawson gave a combined purse of 1.9M.

    Froch-Kessler gives a combined purse of 4M.

I think that if Ward came to Denmark/UK the combined purse could be more than the 4M for Kessler-Froch due to yank television paying some dough. It might be worth 6M. In the US I reckon it would be less than that.

Froch-Kessler is a combined purse of 4 million British pounds, which is worth about $6.5 million US dollars

Ward-Dawson was a combined purse of $2 million US dollars, Kessler - Froch 2 is worth over 3 times as much :deal

Ward won't fight outside the US, you can argue he doesn't have to and that's fair enough

Dawson, despite his acheivements, was never a draw.

Froch/Ward or Kessler/Ward in America would make big money as Ward is starting to get some traction.

A fight with fan favorite Pavlik will also get him over a little bit more.

Fact is, a fight anywhere will make Kessler/Froch more money than fighting each other.

Kessler made 2.5 million fighting Ward in Oakland before, and at that point Ward was just an up and coming kid.

I somewhat doubt the daily mail here. The story was broken by danish ekstrabladet.dk and their sum was 4 million USD. My feeling is that the daily mail lost track of the currencies here. :deal

Can't be sure if they have their own sources though.

I don't know if you can, but I'd sure like to see where you think the money for a US fight should come from if you compare it to the Dawson fight.

Sometimes I wish Ward was more of a talker and had a bit more of an attitude, whether it be cocky like Floyd, or just gruff and arrogant like Froch.

It would make people sit up and pay more attention to him.

Being the quietly spoken,Christian family man, unfortunately doesn't get the regular public interested.

Good points, I heard the fight might going to PPV in England, which would explain where the money is coming from? Looking around you may be right, the Daily Mail (hardly a reliable source) might have reported it wrong at £4m, it might be 4 million US dollars, which is still a huge payday for both. More than they can make in a Ward rematch

Neither Froch or Kessler will go to the US to rematch Ward, if he wants to make some of that money he has to come to Europe, which I don't think he will. He isn't much of a draw, which is why HBO are carefully selecting his opponents, like Pavlik - no threat but has a name

Ward is anything but a spoiler. His fights against Froch and Dawson were masterclasses

The guy hasnt lost a fight since he was a child and it hasnt seemed to make him take off yet.

Sometimes you need a little spice unfortunately.

Theres only so many true boxing fans out there.

Hes an Olympic champ, hes cleaned out the division. He fights the best out there, and hes done it all despite being 28 and only having 26 fights.

    Hes beaten
    Kessler- WBA and WBC champ
Froch-WBC champ and current IBF champ
Abraham-IBF middleweight champ and current WBO supermiddleweight champ
Bika-One of the toughest SMW of the last decade. Should have had a lot more recognition if he had only fought more
    Dawson-Current WBC LHW champ.

Fighting Pavlik next-Former WBC/WBO and linear champ at middleweight, has only ever been beaten by future HOF fighters.

On ability alone,he should be getting Mayweather attention.

Both were boring, do you think Tyson would have been a sensation if he was a clever boxer who out thought and beat his opponents on clear points decisions?

I agree that on talent alone though, Ward deserves to be a huge draw, he's a great fighter
