Why was Pacquiao so out of position when he was ko'd?

Pacquiao leaves his feet when coming in at times, which leaves him off-balance and out of position to defend.

He gets away with it because a) He is a gifted athlete with speed and b) many boxers can't capitalize on his mistake, see point A. If he continues to fight, be ready to see a string of KO losses as his physical ability declines like Roy Jones Jr. A lack of fundamentals will hurt him as he continues to age as he will no long be able to count on his speed and reflexes to bail him out.

To put it blunt: Pacquiao is a bit wild with his approach and a disciplined fighter will tag him if they get his timing and rhythm down. I'm sure there are some others here that are actively boxing that could give a better breakdown than I can. I haven't put on gloves in a solid 17-18 years.

 

The guys always out of position but his speed normally lets him get away with it and normally when hes throwin combos his opponent is duckin out the way because its so fast whereas Marquez decided to time a good punch instead of duckin or dodgin

 

Pac's aggression often leaves him off balance or out of position, but he's so damn fast and gifted physically he can get away with it most times. Marquez is a great counter puncher and took advantage, timing Pac. He knew Pac's tendencies, trained to KO him after making a mistake and did just that in the ring.

 

It's easy to say when you watch it on TV, but when you're in the ring it's totally different.

Many fighters were caught with that same move by surprise. Hell, JUAN was caught with it by surprised and got knocked down because of it.

Juan's advantage over other Pac opponents is that he had the opportunity to fight Pac for 36 rounds (note that's more time in there with Pac than any other pac opponent in his whole career). I'm sure he picked up a thing or two in there.

 

I've long bluntly described Pac's style as "hopping around like a caveman throwing **** tons of punches."

amazingly, jmm only clocked the unskilled caveman after the last second of the 42nd round and that is only because one fighter is hell bent on not just winning by decision.

 

It was more about JMM getting into position by stepping forward and angling his body to tilt towards his left. JMM ducking down like that displaces Pac's momentum.

he could have chosed to fight tactically like the 3rd fight and win or lose another decision but he didn't. if fighting too agressively for 6 round is a being a caveman while wining 3 rounds and off to win the last unti he got clocked, then you are either underatting pac or jmm skills.

 

He was coming in and trying to bully Marquez who was bleeding quite badly. Pretty simple.
