So it's almost a certain fact that Mayweather wont fight any legit 154lbr like Canelo or Trout in May 4th, which let's be honest, it'll probably be his only fight next year

So what about these two possible matches?

#10 P4P, FOTY, WBC mandatory Robert Guerrero (hey that doesn't sound bad at all on paper, does it?)

Or the new JMM. Juan is now well adjusted to the weight, with newfound one punch KO power, tons of experience and skill and is coming from the victory of his life (and hopefully wont get cheated on the scales by Floyd again)

I'd tip Marquez to edge Guerrero, but I'm more interested in a Mayweather-Guerrero fight. Guess a rematch doesn't light much of a spark in me since I've seen Mayweather use his superior footspeed, longer jab, and great control of distance to box Marquez to a near standstill.

I know Marquez has grown into the weight better since 2009 and is employing scientific training methods now instead of throwing rocks and drinking urine, but while he's gained punching powern and strength, I saw a noticeable decrease in all around speed earlier this month. He'd still not have the front-foot pressuring ability or swarming style necessary to outfight Mayweather 7 of the 12 rounds. Same goes for a tactical boxing match. He'd have more success, I believe, as Mayweather has slowed since 2009 as well, but still be a step behind a bigger and faster technician. Guerrero at least brings an element of mystery for me. I expect him to be outclassed considerably (by an 11-1 type margin), but maybe he has the youth, size, and bullying tactics to make it fun against Mayweather if he's declined from Ortiz and Cotto.

What really peaks my interest are two matches at 154: Canelo and Trout. Don't think he'll go back up unless the purse is too big to turn down. Canelo could offer that in the future. Trout? Never.

Marquez is the more competitive matchup, Guerrero the fresher matchup, if that makes any sense.

    Marquez is greater than Guerrero.

Guerrero is a better opponent for Mayweather.

Mayweather beats both of them, but at least he hasnt already beaten Guerrero.

Id prefer Martinez,Pac or even Bradley, but despite what everyone is saying Guerrero isnt a terrible fight.

    4 weight world champion
Welterweight title holder, top 5 welter in the world
On a good run of form, and hasnt been beaten in 7 years.

Its not the worst fight that can be made either.

Marquez 2 would look the same as Marquez one. Maybe Marquez steal a round or two more...but thats it.

People are MASSIVELY over-rating Marquez power because he landed the perfect punch on Pac. Marquez hits fine, but he doesnt hit as hard as Cotto or DLH or Ortiz or Mosely.

Marquez is NOT one of the biggest punchers at 147, he's a ****ing lightweight who had to eat like a pig and lift weights to come up to 143!!:lol:

Mayweather is simply too fast and defensive for JMM, and I am a huge JMM fan.

Notice JMM went after Pac multiple time, but Floyd only once. There is a reason for this.

add trout and canelo to your list and thats 5 fights right there better than this crap.
when you have to state "its not a terrible fight" its just a nice way to say much better fights could have been made once again. what a let down and a yawner

Both of these fights are bs, Mayweather schools both of them. But I'm curious to see how Marquez's new body does against Mayweather.

He was slower and less powerful vs Floyd. Hes put on muscle and retained his speed, unlike when he fought Floyd.

People marquez was losing the fight and he had a broken nose before ko pacquiao. Mayweather wont pressure the way pacquiao did and he wont let himself open like that the way pac did. Mayweather slick boxing skills will give marquez too much problems. Why else marquez hasnt even talk about fighting mayweather again?
