The only thing that offsets technical flaws (i.e just plodding in) is chin, and we havent seen that tested yet.....yet

As much as a i love CJ i think he would of been found wanting Ice personally. He is a lad who needed guidance and i think didn't achieve what he could of. I think he would of troubled Broner but i think he would of shipped early damage and fell apart late. He needed subtle changes in his style, the boy was a beast. I think Broner isn't as soft as many think he is i think the lad can and will bite down on gumshield and fight. CJ would of walked in and let his hands go but not have the ability to stop the shots landing back at him.

TBH all excuses a side i think Carl would of beaten Ricky at 100% that night and anyone that knows about Carl knows he didn't exactly live the life. For all we know Adrien could of had issues in lead up to the Ponce De Leon fight. Either way both men struggled, one got lucky in many people's opinion. Different fight, different stage of careers and both guys have got experience under belt.

De Leon is a awkward customer i think he would of given Burns a hard nights work as well. He's redeveloped his fighting style and isn't easy to pin down. Burns i'd say would win but i don't think he'd of relished facing Daniel.

Broner at that point was 21 so the body is physically developing as well as his skillset improving. I see a guy who back then looked like he was trying to find himself as a fighter. I think he's more settled now, not beaten any great names but his record is decent.

I think him vs Burns is fantastic match up, problem for both men is Plan B. Cos if Plan B don't work i worry that either man doesn't have a Plan B.

I meant Lacy as a young amateur mate, he looked miles better than Broner ever did, back when he even made it to the olympics. He showed flashes of it in the pros, but he lost everything when he tore his roatator cuff vs Tsypko, after that he was a punchbag, and it was sad to see, cus he was a nice guy and he did have SOME potential

I won't argue with that mate, but again it comes down to styles. plus, you mention the age, that's a great point, I think now, while Burns has the chance, he should fight lil Adrian, cus that ****er will do nothing but grow from now on, and will make a future fight all the harder. The older Broner gets, the bigger he will get, Burns has to strike while yon iron is hot :good

And let's think about it, Khan wasn't so sharp when he was 21, but he looked pretty good... He's 26 now, how much smarter is he Ring IQ wise?

Adrien Broner is not Floyd Mayweather in the Ring IQ department, not even close, and that will be his downfall as he tries to implement this style that is so over his head, wether he be 21(and when he was younger he didn't fight like that of course) 24,25 or 35, he won't change, I bet you my bottom dollar

We shouldn't get into the habit of comapring fighters age for age. Fighters are all different and develop at different rates and times.

He's not Mayweather, he's not as instinctive and doesn't use the roll as effectively but he's new to the style. He didn't actually use it as predominantly early on and didn't use it against De Leon but he carries power and is a sharp counter puncher and very impressive finisher. But fighters make tweaks and it's worked for him. For all the mistakes he makes he does some good, for all his does good and wrong Ricky does the same. We could be here for a good hour posting up mistakes from both men but when it's all said and done it's who can get the job done.

I think both men have the ability to trouble each other, would be extremely naive to say they couldn't. What i do feel people over look about Broner is fact he very rarely looks phased. His eyes are open and he concentrates. He's not the finished article and may never be so but he's a better fighter then what many want or give him credit for.

Quite right, for example, Broner is much younger than Lacy was when he was being hyped up as a future p4p champ(professionally speaking), so thats a plus for him

But again Skills...They put this man, Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy, in not one, but TWO FightNight games, now that trumps anything Broner can say he did in his entire life....Until the next fight night comes out

    :D

Oh and by the way, Lacy is a ****ing nightmare to beat in those games on hard mode at super middle

Craney my friend, I know for fact that if this man was a debutant today, you would love him

    tell me I'm wrong

Theres serious short term memory loss around here

Craney do you even remember what the hype was like back in the Lacy days? seriously?

Skills you talk about Lacy being crude and his boxing vs Broners, for one example Jeff Lacy could throw a counter to the jab into a left uppercut that Broner couldnt do against a heavy bag, Jeff Lacy could box better than Broner on his best day, but Lacy aint Broner, and Burns ain't Calzaghe, that much is true

Is it so hard to admit that Lacy looked just as good if not better than Broner at some times*, or is it just selective memory? ;) But to be fair, trying to remind people that Jeff Lacy could box is like trying to remind people that Ricky Hatton once actually knew how to use a jab

    * Against the right opposition

TBH BB this thread is a mess i have no clue how it's got to this , Lacy was crude i'm not sure why your building him up to be something he wasn't. He had a bit of ability but fed into the ''new Tyson'' hype and like many who are strong fell in love with his power and strength.

Lacy was a decent SMW champion but he got exposed for all his limitations that night in Manchester. Yes he looked good against the right opposition but then again Broner has and so has Burns. When the styles suit you, you will mostly look good.

Broner and Lacy are totally different fighters, one regressed as his career went on and Broner seems to be developing into a pretty decent world level fighter.

As i've mentioned we can slate both men on record and technique. And TBH the clips of Lacy looking skillful are mostly 4 round fighters against club fighters.
