I heard he works in construction and he even got laid off.

He had a pretty decent career and fights against the best of his generation, so why is he not able to retire on boxing money or at least live comfortably

Didn't Manfredo Jr work in construction throughout his entire career? I'm sure a working man knows the value of money

I think he made a big investment in something and it didn't work out and ended up costing him most of his money.

Still, buying high end auto mobiles that don't carry their value is a poor investment.

Also, he hooked up with some sketchy real estate deals and lost big.

And I don't care how much my women beg, they can find the next sugar daddy:nono until my kids college is paid, our homes are paid and our bills are covered for life.

Just because you fight big names doesn't mean you make big $. The disparity in purses is ridiculous. When Sergio Martinez fought Antonio The Brick Margarito, Sergio pocketed $500 after everything was said and done. That was on 24/7. And people wonder why there isn't more American talent in Boxing. There are at least minimum salaries in other pro sports usually in the six figures.

He had a decent career? His claim to fame was losing to Calzaghe, in a fight that he didn't deserve anyway.

My co-worker thinks he earned some decent money in his career. He fought Calzaghe in Wales, Chavez Jr and was on the Contender, Jeff Lacy on PPV, etc. He probably had a couple of million, or close to it. he is a laborer at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, and is married to his high school sweetheart. I believe he did have some bad real estate deals. he still draws well when fighting in New England, and did a good FNF rating in 2011. He's not the best fighter, but he puts out a good effort when he gets into the ring. Can't ask for more than that!
