  1. It seems this match up will be announced anytime soon, I was just wandering what your fight plan would be for Robert against Floyd.

    Off you go ..

well if he boxes he loses , imo he has to make it ugly to win , his chin can take anything may can throw so in your face grinding kind of fight will do best for him

Nobody is going to outbox Floyd so I think Guerrero should just try to bully him like he did with Berto..

He needs to close the gap and try to keep FLoyd in a phonebooth battle..

Floyd has been fighting in the trenches more lately so if he does that with Guerrero, it's going to be a fight...

But me personally, I think Gurrero is a punk and he aint got no chance in hell with Floyd...

Robert has to stay in close & not allow Mayweather to use his lead left hook & his straight right hand lead. (<~Floyd's best punches IMO)

I guess Guererro's best play would be to use his own straight left.
Always figured the "Shoulder roll" is not as effective against a southpaw.
Pound May on the inside when Floyd try's to clinch. (Shoeshine his body)

Mayweather's past 4 fights will now be an utter joke. A guy way past his prime, Victor Ortiz, Pacquiao's faded scraps, and now Guerrero

I think he should try to use his workrate and legs and take advantage of Mayweather's age. I don't think him trying to bully Floyd and fight him up close is a good idea. Floyd would phuck him up inside, plus it takes away his southpaw advantage.

Guerrero should try to keep his jab very active in the fight and not get lazy with it. This is a lazy jab vs Mayweather

This is an educated jab vs Mayweather

Once he gets his jab going, he can then try to follow up with his straight left behind that. A great combination against Mayweather for a southpaw is the 1-1-2body. I've seen Mayweather hit with that combination against Judah, Corley and Sharmba Mitchell.

The biggest thing he has to do though, is move his head and use his feet. Most guys go into a Mayweather fight wondering how are they going to hit him. The biggest key to beating Floyd is preventing him from hitting you.
Oscar did a good job at defending against Floyd's straight punches early on with his parrying and blocking
Castillo did the same as Oscar
Judah's reflexes and quick counters made it hard for Floyd to land early on
Cotto's high guard made it more difficult for Floyd to land.

If Floyd is having an easy time hitting you, then it'll be a clear win for Floyd

    May KO's him.

Robert can't fight off the backfoot against May. He'll have no choice but to go all in on him. He ain't got the speed or the power to get a win outta that either.

Floyd is way too smart for that ****. Berto could have easily avoided that if he put his fricken right hand up or at least grabbed Guerrero's arm since they were already clinching.

If you look at Lara, Ward, Mayweather, Hopkins or any good boxer, whenever they're up close, their hand is up protecting their head on the side their opponent is on, even if it's during a break

It's definitely a more interesting match up than most will give credit for. I'd say Guerrero should try and do what he did to Berto. Make it rough and play dirty. Floyd's defense and movement pretty much take away most shots to the head and body at range. So he needs to get Floyd cornered like Cotto did and he did to Berto. Put Floyd on the ropes and try to get him uncomfortable with volume punching. One difference from when Guerrero was pushing on Berto is that Berto was grabbing around Guerrero's waist which let Guerrero lock Berto's arms up, but with Floyd it'll be a little harder because he's usually really good about keeping his arms cocked and to his sides. This should give Floyd more room for offense during these clinches.

Floyd should probably stick to the outside and try to hurt Guerrero every time he comes in. He needs to make Guerrero play by his game plan and his rules, as he's often done to his opponents in the past. Just as easily as I can see Guerrero making it rough all night, I can see Floyd peppering Guerrero with right hand leads every time he tries to come in close, and taking a discouraged Guerrero to a unanimous decision.
