I don't have a problem with Paul Smith or any of the Smith family they're good for boxing certainly in Liverpool and you can't say Paul Smith didn't try against Degale or Groves he was just left wanting.

I do get why people find him a little bit dreary though with the way he talks and he can be a little bit expressionless sometimes for someone appearing on BN as a commentator! Yes he has said some pretty silly things in the past but boxers all talk them selves up they're hardly going to give interviews and say "I'm mediocre and I shift barely any tickets and I'd lose to most of the division" !

Is he a bigger draw than Anderson though? That's the crucial issue here.

He's probably still a bigger draw than Anderson who's only got a few of his Scottish gangster mates but he's NOT a bigger draw than Bellew or Rocky Fielding who'll also likely be on the card. Smith was a decent draw two years ago when he was British champion and having good fights with Quigley and Dodson. Not anymore, his career has been sliding downwards ever since DeGale outclassed him. His old fans have moved on to cheer for other fighters (like Price, Bellew and Fielding). If he has people fans left who'll pay to watch him fight, it won't too be much.

If Fisheyes decides can pay smudger more for fighting for an international wbo title type of fight then good for him i suppose, but i won`t be watching the fight. The board wil probaly put this to purse bids so we will see who wants to put this fight on and how mutch it`s worth in the current climate. It would be interesting to know the amount the offer was for and also how mutch he got for challenging Groves. This would be the only fight i would be hoping for a double knockout.

He's not fighting Bellew though. He's fighting Anderson.

Never said he was. What I mean is there's no way he'd fight at the Echo Arena in front of a big crowd nowadays unless he was the undercard of someone like Bellew's main event fight.

Smith doesn't deserve much, he's not very good. Anderson didn't look all that against shot Reid either.

I personally wouldn't be bothered about seeing it.

When will purse bids be called?

Don't see where people can say Hearn is being dishonest. he made a 2nd offer with no options and Smiths manager didn't tell him.

I don't think he's being dishonest just... inconsistent and a bit of a hypocrite. If he's really the "new breed" of promoter, then he shouldn't be putting any contract in with options - especially when his man doesn't sell any tickets without Smith!

  11. funny how smith deserve a **** payday day , but when ol frank offer derry £15,000 people here were up in arms

Smith is more well known than rocky fielding by a miles, only price is ahead of him , bellew is unproven

But it's not on for Frank, is it? Eddie can do whatever **** he wants and people say things like "Well, he's a promoter, that's his job."

    The double-standard is baffling.

I think Smith has every right to ask for more Hearn is banking on Smith wanting the British title so badly that he will accept pretty much any offer to get it. Smith like it or not is a draw maybe not as much as a couple of years ago when he was a potential leading light but still a legitimate draw.

There are very few at British level that command the crowds that he does. What other British champion currently could draw 3000+ ? Hearn has probably offered him the standard British title challenger purse. Smith by virtue of his drawing power is entitled to more.

Its the boxing business ignore perfomrances, ignore his "level" if you can pack them in you will get paid and thats it really.

People forget that smith only got hit with one decent shot by groves and rattled him in the first. I've always said he was a very good fighter. Hope the fight happens they will put on a great fight.
