No mate, FW and Mathews was different from this. FW offered a **** amount of money for a WORLD title fight. Not a British or European, a WORLD title. £15,000 is a good deal for a fighter who's at domestic level but when a fighter steps up to challenge for massive world title fight he should be getting **** LOADS, at the very least £75,000 - £100,000. People were up in arms because when you challenge for a world belt you should get a tonne of money, not just a few grand like domestic level fighters. People were slating FW for offering Mathews a sum for a world title fight that probably less than what he made fighting Crolla and Rees for British and European belts. That's the difference between that case and this one. It was just a bad case off "I think can get him to save my show for peanuts."
But the first one did. That's what matters. After his whining about Rees, he has to take the high ground at all times. If not, he's a hypocrite. Which he is.
Utter nonsense. Matthews was getting a shot he had no right to challenge for. That was a case where the short money was acceptable. If he won he would have made bigger money afterwards.
i thought they offered him a non world title fight , no offence but who the **** is gonna give derry a world title shot
No it's not utter nonsense, it's business sense. Why would a person want to paint a pyramid for less money than he made by painting a shed a few weeks before?
Would it have been non-title? I honestly didn't know that until now. If that was indeed the case then FW is a ****ing dumbo anyway, why would he think anyone want to see Ricky Burns fight a non-title fight?
So it's not business sense for Smith to turn down a fight where he feels he's getting the short end? He's the one selling the tickets that will pay for Anderson's larger purse. He'd be an idiot if he didn't make sure he was compensated. Your logic is completely contradictory. No, I'm obsessed with idiots who make out that Hearn is somehow ripping up the rule book while doing the exact thing many criticise FW for. I hate double standards.
Not sure how this garner so much discussion when there are no figures mentioned, but I can't imagine Smith particularly warrants huge sums at the moment. The guys stock is not great, been bashed up a few times and most of his fights have been genuine stinkers.
Agreed. Smiths got a huge ego. I dont think he should command as much as degale or groves or price or even maccarinelli
no options , and a few grand more considering the initial offer was a **** take he was allways gonna turn down the second i would not be supprised to see fielding in against anderson
This is the same promoter who publicly complained about Frank asking for options on Rees. But it's ok as long as he changes the contract when Smith turns it down? You are a card, Rob.
