Sakio Bika is rumored to be fighting Nikola Sjekloca is a WBC final eliminator. Degale is also highly ranked with the WBC so a fight between them is possible.
DeGale worries me with the stuff on the ropes that happens in every fight. I also think DeGale isn't right mentally at the moment at all and it is something he will have to address properly, and soon, if he is going to fulfil his potential. Take a lok at "Ringside" this week and watch him. You don't need to be a body language expert to detect nerves, but if you did know a bit about body language you'd note supplicating gestures and nervous ticks and movements all indicating extreme mental unease when talking about his career and preferred fights. It jumps out of the screen and punches you in the face. Why? Someone should ask him and it could be worked on. I think it's the legacy of his woeful P.R. performance against Groves which almost wrecked his entire career. But he has to counteract that in a balanced way now.
The thing agout Degale is he fights these 'tough opponents' but they have no technique whatsoever, the last guy he fought was terrible when he was on the ropes he could see the guys punches comin from a mile off, i think its gonna hit him when he fights someone like Bika who actually throws decent punches that are not slow and telegraphed, some of the blockin Degale does wont work against someone good he needs to fix the problems now
Bika walks him down imo and possibly stops him late on. James doesn't have the firepower to keep Bika off him.
Some really interesting points there. I've often wondered if all the trash talk with Groves and subsequent defeat didn't cause him some kind of breakdown.
Even though he's been so inactive lately, I would still favour Bika by late stoppage. Degale will get roughed up, broken down and eventually TKO'd.
Degale but... like Amir Khan, he won't proceed past the gatekeepers level. Can never see him even coming close to beating the likes of Froch, Kessler, Abraham etc.
