“You can map out a fight plan or a life plan, but when the action starts, it may not go the way you planned, and you're down to your reflexes - that means your [preparation:]. That's where your roadwork shows. If you cheated on that in the dark of the morning, well, you're going to get found out now, under the bright lights.”

No fighter was ever in better shape than Rocky Marciano...didn't matter who he was fighting...worked his ass off to get into his kind of shape...

There are two elements to this.

Yes preparation is crucial, but you also have the X factor.

Even with superior preparation, you can have a day where you just don't fire on all cylinders.

  10. Rocky had it all in spades. Hence why he is undefeated and no one can touch him

Which is why trainers the world over are scouting gyms for 5 foot 10, t-rex armed cruiserweights to take the belts from those lazy, cowardly K bros.

  12. There was and is only one Rocky so thats a stupid comment. Just because you're jelous and a hater is not my problem.

I'm a huge fan of his and have every known minute of his filmed fights in my collection.

I also understand there is a reason for weight divisions and that the heavyweight landscape has changed more than any other over the decades.

Roberto Duran V Ray Leonard I.

Both fighters had to be in sublime shape to do what they did for those 15 rounds.

as well, watching basilio, with his style, he must have required ridiculous conditioning

frazier was a great shout out by philly

I'll add: ali (63-67), holyfield and qawi from their first fight. AMAZING stamina from both men
