No he didn't and hbo footage showed them running on the treadmill and then fainting at each other in the ring.
that would be about 60% of the game plan from both these camps Running & Fainting. that actually could have been the title of this fight. i would still want to watch.....just to see who the best at it was!
Whitaker can match Floyd in handspeed and he has better upperbody movement. I think the southpaw stance and upperbody movement wins Whitaker a decision.
Sweet pea is one of my fav fighters but I can actually see Mayweather winning a very close decision, maybe 7 rounds to 5 in a fight with neither man in much trouble..
Which weight? The current one shot at a time Floyd would try to walk Pea down and look for openings. He'd look silly. Floyd from 130-135? This one had the tools to trouble anyone in lightweight history.
Whitaker landed over 400 punches easily, against Azumah Nelson and Anthony Jones. Over 500 against Santos Cardona.
Pernell would force Floyd to fight every minute of every round. Contrary to popular belief, this would be a great action fight.
depends on where the fight takes place. I favor Pernell the lower the weight class is though despite Floyd being almost God-like at 130
Mine is sort of the opposite. The higher they go I favor Pernell because of floyds lower work rate. An yeah floyd was the best fighter south of 135 ive ever seen. It would by no means be an easy fight for either one of them.
good point. When I think of the 2 worst fights for Floyd at 135, it's Duran and Withaker. Not necessarily because they are the 2 best fighters there, but due to their tools and styles. Floyd has most trouble when he is having a hard time hitting his opponents. You can see why that'd be awfully difficult vs Pea. Then Floyd would have to open up his offense more and throw combinations which he usually does if he's having a hard time hitting you, which would lead to more openings for Pea. I personally think both fighters after a few rounds would just say screw it and try to fight up close tbh. That's why, I don't really think Floyd's lower output at 147 would matter in this case, because he'd be up close the whole time anyways. In any case, I always favor Sweet Pea to win.
