Its 2012...belts are becoming more and more meaningless by the day.

    What belt does Marquez hold?

I think Ward should have fought Bute after the S6, because he was viewed as the second best SMW at that time... Fact is if Ward wants to get a decent payday he should fight the winner of Kessler - Froch II. If Kessler wins him and Ward can take care of their unfinished business ( if Ward doesnt bail...)

agreed. it baffled me how he passed on the Bute fight. I think he just did it out of spite, or to do a power play for whatever reason. it kind of reminded me when Hagler chased Sugar Ray Leonard for years and finally sugar ray expressed a desire to fight him and Hagler made him wait or talked retirement...similar, but not that extreme

Shouldn't you be nursing Pavlik's hangover rather than spouting your drivel on here?

I admit he ducked Bute but the way things turned out it just shows he woulda beat Bute, kinda like the Pac - May situation the third man in the situation proved what the outcomes would be (Froch, Marquez)

because he didnt fight him immediately after the super 6, doesnt make it a DUCK.... if thats the case, Bute has been DUCKING behind garbage IBF title shots the last 2 or 3 years or however long he had it

    Ward didn't duck Bute.

He broke his hand and decided to have a rest after a gruelling couple of years in the Super 6.

In the mean time, Bute fought Froch and got taken apart. If Bute beat Froch then i'm pretty sure Ward would have fought Bute if Lucian was willing to travel.

No duck here, just incorrect timing, unfortunate injuries and a great performance from a desperate Carl Froch stopped this fight from happening.
