Now that Pacquiao vs. Mayweather has lost what remained of its luster in the eyes of many fans, is Mayweather vs. Canelo the biggest fight to be made in boxing right now? Something that will keep weigh-ins on live ESPN and keep the water cooler talk Mayweather/Cotto and Pac/JMM 4 brought in 2012.

I'm a sales guy, and think Mayweather/Canelo is the easiest available event to market. It has all the angles. Young lion vs Aging Lion. Mexico vs. USA. Boxer vs. Puncher. These are basic storylines that hook a lot of viewers.

As the fight moves from press conference to fight night, there is plenty to discuss. Is Mayweather big enough? Is Canelo too green? Who cares as long as people are talking about it. Talk = Buys.

If you think I'm wrong, please provide another matchup.

    i think yes & no

yes for all the fantastic reseons you listed.

& no because alot of casual fans stillbreally dont no canelo.
i think even tho paquiao got ktfo by Marquez.
floyd vs pac man would still do better ppv #s.

im a gym rat & all the talk at the 2 lifetime gyms i frequent were how bad everhone still wants to see floyd vs paquiao & marquez vs paquiao 5 of course.

they think the fight will still be great even tho pac got ktfo.... because of the contrasting style of pac & floyd.

and most of these dudes are UFC & MMA fans.
only a select few of the hardcore boxing fans new who canelo even was.

I voted yes but Martinez-Mayweather could be very big. A lot of people were introduced to Martinez through the 24/7 & Chavez fight.

    Fans don't deserve Mayweather/Sergio.

If Mayweather wins, he drained Sergio ala Ward/Dawson.

If Sergio wins, he beat up on a guy much smaller ala Mayweather/JMM.

    ---

I do think that Mayweather vs. Alvarez is the biggest fight out there other than the pure fantasy match that would be Klitschko vs. Klitschko (which I wouldn't want to be signed).

Yeah Mayweather vs Canelo would be big.. not bigger than Pac vs Mayweather and not better than Mayweather vs Martinez.. but still a big fight.... Casual fans would get introduced to Canelo through the 24/7 series.... and the fight would still sell as good as Floyd vs Ortiz.... if not wayyyy better.........

All these fights are bigger and better than the Guerrero fight anyways...

Listen and think about it. The biggest out there is Trout and Canelo. It has everything going for it. It's a promoters wet dream. You got the revenge angle, the undefeated angle, young warriors angle, black, mexican angle, both fighters are clean cut ( no baggage ), the future of boxing angle. I mean it goes on and on. Boxer/puncher Lefty vs Righty. Plus it would in reality be a very exciting fight. It's a vehicle for Canelo and / or Trout to step out from under the shadow of Maywether and make thier own legacy.:bbb

Bs, most casual fans (the huge majority) have absolutely no idea who the **** Trout is, nor they care about Canelo's irrelevant brother or a fight that happened years ago. Plus the mexican fanbase despise fighters with Trout's style, they want wars in the ring, no slick, potshotting, featherfisted guys beating people on points (unless they're called Floyd Mayweather)

A Canelo/Trout match wont be big, and only the hardcore fans will give Canelo credit for a win. Cotto or Mayweather on the other hand would have been huge fights.
