Wladimir Klitschko vs. Rocky Marciano

Who exactly can be taken seriously by you?

 

Great skill set? Lets see.....cant do anything on the inside but hold, dont see him blocking, parrying, slipping punches, certainly don't see counter punches off of good defensive maneuvers. He has a long but ponderous jab and a good straight right. Dont see much of a hook probably because he is afraid to throw it (more open for counters). He fights like a walking statue..very European in his straight up style. Now if you add that fragile chin (proven by THREE brutal KO losses), questionable courage (his reactions when he is dropped/hit with a ko shot) you don't have a fighter that in my estimation would be able to hang around long with any past all time great hwt champion let along a fighter as ferocious as Marciano.

 

My point is simply that you're either trolling this thread, or you simply haven't got a clue what you're talking about.

Ali was a poor inside fighter but he also had a chin of iron and tremendous courage in the ring. His ability to BOX...slip, block, parry and overall fighting ability is second to none. So in many ways the exact opposite of Wlad. Ali and Rocky were far greater fighters than Wlad will ever be. Ive been involved in boxing since 1970 how about you? If your so easily impressed by Wlad you must be a real newbie!

Is it possible that the people on this board inaccurately rating Wlad so high are European? I have spoken to many in the fight game in the US any no one is as impressed with Wlad as what I am hearing here. Dundee and Atlas both thought Rocky would crush Wlad as do most of the people I hang out with in the fight game on the east coast. I could see the bias since you guys have not been a player in the hwt division in many years. Wlad comes along and even though chumps knock him silly you think he beats Rocky Marciano.

This coming from the Mensa member who doesn't know the difference between "there" and "their" and "faint" and "feint". Quite a feat.

Also, another bonus to sparring at "local gyms" (where a few ex world champs might have been working out or training) is you get to talk to guys who know the game from the inside, hear stories, anecdotes and like... at least, if they are not total assholes. The obstacles to fighting a significantly larger man are not confined to amateurs and those less skilled. Did you even listen to Nazim Richardson last weekend when 205 pound, 6-2 Cunningham was dealing with a blown-up cruiser in Adamek who was a mere 20 pounds heavier? What was he saying? How was Cunningham, who still had a significant reach advantage, directed by Richardson? What was the single obstacle there, just one of the many that Marciano would face against Wlad?

 

Maybe/maybe not. In my experience the European fans don't understand what great fighting ability is all about. Much more dumbed down audience...easily impressed.

 

Yeah, all us Europeans stick together because we're all best buds. Always have been aside from one or two misunderstandings here and there. Not ones to hold a grudge though.
