So I was thinking how Chavez Jr trains in his living room, gets drunk and arrested and smokes weed during camp, and is still a top MW and almost KO a top 5 P4P this year.

Or a guy like ex-golfer Corrie Sanders, you could see in his pudgy physique and crappy stamina that this guy barely trained, yet he gave us one of the biggest upsets in history and was a dangerous fighter early for pretty much anybody with his blistering fast hands, destructive power and counterpunching ability.

Obviously, fighters who dont take training seriously and have unhealthy habits out of the ring and STILL can have noteworthy accomplishments must have a **** ton of raw talent and natural physical gifts to compensate for their lazy asses.

Otherwise, how else could they defeat ranked fighters, contenders and world champions that live and breathe boxing and are gym rats with solid work ethic? Remember there are tons and tons of boxers out there that fully dedicate their lives to boxing, yet at the end of the day they accomplish **** all.

Imagine if these undisciplined fighters were totally focused on boxing.

They should be considered serious underachievers.

what other examples do we have?

many heavyweights, but since the others also lacked it then it was all even. That is why Mike Tyson had a big advantage when he came on the scene. He was in shape and had a gameplan. Advantage already without the punching power variable being put in.

Smoking weed makes the stamina worse, but it makes the mind more open to inventing some new boxing styles. Try boxing when high and you will see.

it was a good matchup. He fought Hearns when Tommy was coming back after fighting Hagler and losing. Had he fought Hearns at another time when Tommy was just tuning up maybe he could have done better.

You cant. well, maybe a ¨good¨workout is possible , but not optimal like your profession requires at the top level

Toney used to spar his ass off everyday, didn't he?

Wilfried Benitez apparently barely used to train for his fights. If only he did train for fights...the kid was World Champion at 17, beating an ATG Antonio Cervantes.
