pavlik was a 10-1 underdog at pinnacle. dont know how you can call that a fight. those odds are pretty close to canelo fights, whose "best" opponent was cintron at 8-1. that being said, abraham has fought four fights in 2012 and needs rest, at least six months as he is undersized for a 168. a fresh and rested abraham should have no problem with kp the alcoholic.
Think Pavlik takes this. Ive seen nothing to say that Pavlik is washed up. Hes been beaten twice by 2 HOFers, one of whom was competing 2 divisions above Pavlik.
Another good matchup, both are 160 guys at SMW. Was there talk of them at 160 before? I don't recall.
Abraham has a scheduled a rematch with Stieglitz March late. They talked of a potential future fight with Pavlik in autumn 2013 until then Pavlik has to fight he cant wait for Abraham.
I think Kelly has a really good chance of beating Abraham. He has shown improvement in his offensive diversity under Garcia ... I think Pavlik gives anybody at 168 a run for their money...except Ward.
A very interesting fight is Kessler vs Pavlik. and it can be made right now since neither has a scheduled opponent.
He still could have opted out before it even began, Bute style. He didn't need to participate in a dangerous tournament as a new SMW yet he did and isn't getting any credit for it. Abraham's defense isn't any better than Pavlik's, actually it is better considering his peek-a-boo style and constant movement. All Pavlik does there is lunge forward wide open for all sorts of punches and counters. I'm easily picking Abraham in this one based on experience and opposition, if the smaller Martinez was able to pummel Pavlik from pillar to post, I expect far more from Abraham who exchanged with the likes of Ward and Froch. Regarding the fight not happening at MW, Abraham wanted this fight, surely you remember Arum's despicable response claiming Abraham is unknown while the likes of Gary "The Rocket" Lockett, Rubio and Espino were apparently worthwhile. No offense but I find it ridiculous that you think Abraham is petrified of Pavlik yet joined the super six, risked his 0 and fought to the very end wherever and whenever he was required to. Pavlik has done NOTHING close to what Abraham did his entire career.
here the odds were even for both kessler and aa http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/super-six-odds-set-26480 but here kessler was the sole favorite http://www.betus.com.pa/sports-betting/boxing/articles/odds-to-win-the-super-6-world-boxing-classic/ still, pretty ludicrous, almost delusional to believe that aa ran from kp when he stepped up to much stronger and bigger competition in the super six. 154 is prime for a super eight. canelo floyd trout molina kirkland vanes lara bundrage other than maybe bundrage or vanes, i can see any of the other guys winning it.
It was Kessler who were the favorite going into the SS. But after the first round, where Kessler lost to Ward, and AA's KO of Taylor then AA became the fav.
well this would be good fight! if kelly is near to his best he should win by PTS. by the way kellys best wins are against Taylor and Miranda, Abraham beat them too!
you must have forgot his 10 or 12 IBF defenses against crap all those years, and this last guy he fought was another joke.
Means nothing when he still fought the likes of Taylor, Froch, Miranda x2(surely you remember how he fought on with a broken jaw back when Miranda was undefeated), Ikeke(a top fighter at the time and highly rated), Ward and Dirrell. Shall we forget all of the opponents mentioned and focus only on easy pickings? That said, is he the only fighter in history that fought easy pickings here and there?, bring me ONE all-time great that didn't have easy pickings/stay-active fights on his resume. It's one thing to fight easy opponents from time to time than to make a career fighting them.
