Keep the fight in the center of the ring, and avoid going against the ropes at all costs. Canelo is a deadly body puncher, and as good/great Floyd is at fighting against the ropes, he'd get caught and get hurt badly. It's best if he would keep the fight in the middle of the ring and outbox Canelo, but i doubt he'd do it nor does he has a choice[shot legs].
Jab the living **** out of him. Especially jab and other straight punches to his solar plexus. Canelo comes in with his body a little squared. Combine that with his guard, it's easy to land jabs to his body. He should try to follow up the jab downstairs with an overhand right around Canelo's guard This content is protected Something similar to this, but with the jab aimed lower on Canelo's body. Also Canelo is a fighter who loves to fight in bursts. Contrary to what a lot of people try to tell you, he isn't a ultra aggressive swarmer who applies this murderous amount of pressure on you. He'll throw beautiful combinations that make the pro-Canelo crowd cheer and scream at his opponents, and then'll he wait and reset until his energy bar has recharged back to full for him to throw off another combination. Floyd can take advantage of this by letting Canelo blow his load like Floyd likes to do to his opponents while laying against the ropes and then come back with with something substances. Canelo won't and CAN'T fight Floyd in the pocket or lay in his chest the whole fight, because Canelo doesn't have the gas tank to do it or the skillset. Canelo has fast and powerful hands, but he puts everything he has into each punch. That's why he has to take those breaks like he does in between combinations. The best Canelo can hope for is to catch Floyd with something and finish him, or just try to steal rounds with his flurries.
Just do what he always does. Canelo is a good pressure fighter, but it takes more than simply being a good pressure fighter to keep Floyd on the ropes on your own terms, despite his habit of backing up into them. I think that Floyd should be defensive early, box behind jabs to the head and body, but keep a high volume, and the young Canelo will soon get intimidated by the way Floyd times him. Then, start pouring on the offense and sit down on combinations, similar to what bball shows with his GIF. I doubt Canelo has a plan B, so once he can't come forward with confidence anymore, what happens? He loses. The icing on the cake would be feinting him up top and going hard to the body exploiting his high guard. Unless Floyd has lost a step or Canelo is better than I'm giving him credit for (and I do like him as a prospect), this could ruin him.
I have no idea... But here's a friendly warning, with a username like that, beware of the one that calls himself "frog jenkins" :hey
Keeping the fight in the center of the ring is key. Canelo for some reason only fights in spots of rounds, not really a consistent attack ever. Maybe it's because he tires quickly, or puts too much in his punches, I don't know why he does, but he rests alot during rounds, and Floyd should take advantage of that and keep Canelo moving, and change things up with walking him down sometimes, and making him attack first and countering that to frustrate and tire Canelo. Floyd also has to jab, jab, jab. His jab to the belly and/or right over the top is one of his best punch combinations. Opponents cant ever place where floyd will go or which he will do first because he snaps that belly punch so fast, and it looks like he will be coming in for a jab. He will inevitably get to the ropes, and Canelo is an excellent combination puncher, who punches intelligently going from up to down in an unpredictable manner, but unlike Cotto, he wont jab from this area which confuses Floyd the most at this range, so what Floyd will do is fight with his eyes and counter when possible, and defend with his shoulder and angle his body to prevent dangerous body strikes, because Canelo and nobody else will land on his head with anything dangerous from that range. Finally, Floyd cant loose focus, every once in a while in fights he tends to get too too comfortable, and he gets caught while doing something like not expecting a punch to land. He cant afford to have anything catch him too flush with any regularity Canelo is just too big, strong, young, and poised to have that end well.
Floyd will do what he does best and thats adapt. This fight will be surprisingly competitive moreso than Mayweather-Cotto. Canelo's combos, tho most punches wont land clean, will wear down Floyd, especially the bodyshots. Canelo tho not consistent and when he gets frustrated tends to drop his hands. Floyd will have him in serious trouble, play possum for most of the fight, even might be behind on scorecards, but he'll launch a deadly counterstrike mid to late in the fight. No, Floyd doesnt punch harder, but he knows how to acummulate those shots. Canelo isnt consistent enough or taken to deep waters to where he's fought under pressure. Floyd is a chameleon he can fight any style well if he sees that Canelo can't hurt him he will walk him down.
Jab the body and right hand his ass. Mix some body shots in there to take advantage of Canelo's tendency to go through tons of stamina by loading up on everything. Perhaps a corner stoppage will happen if Mayweather is battering a gassed Canelo. Throw some feints in for deception. Canelo likes to think but is a slow thinker. I don't think he can fight backing up. Easy night for Floyd if he pushes him back.
